CL final to Europe championship level football.
Nuno rested his first-choice 11 and we lost against Vitesse as a result we sit 2nd in the table , its all very embarrassing.
Tonight we need to win this then win our last game against Rennes, GD should take care of itself and recover some dignity. Runners up will go into a play off but we don't need that. Win the group by winning our last two games and show some intent. Then we go on and win it outright because we are good enough.
I don't feel it will be the same team as Leeds-Conte said "all the players available" to travel. I feel Alli may start.

I do feel Conte has a difficult task ahead as we don't seem to be online with Europe this season-the players seem not to like travelling.

With 5 subs we can select a strong starting XI to try and win the game then sub the players off when hopefully the game is won.......but best laid plans and it being THFC then it is rarely that straight forward.

Well each to their own, but if that team starts I will be furious, and would expect us to drop points
Two, at least of Kane Son and Lucas need to start.
Wow you expect that team to drop points against mura who haven’t won a game and are 6th in the Slovenian league? That team under conte will win comfortable. This is not Nuno so don’t compare. Conte will have them fired up. Berg is coming off the back of an exceptional game for Holland.

Yep, start strong. Stronger than the pundits and many of the people on various forums are calling for. Hojbjerg and Skipp, at least two of Kane Son and Lucas for example
This is a must win game, fail to do that, and first place is almost certainly gone.

Don't think we need to start a full first 11 when we have an away game against Burnley on Sunday. Makes perfect sense to give some of our squad players a run out and let Conte assess them in a competitive game (he literally said exactly this in the presser).

We can use a core of key players like Kane, Skipp, Dier but seems reasonable to supplement that with the likes of Sess, Gil, Ndombele, Rodon and Alli.

The players are good enough, need minutes (we'll be relying on them over Xmas) and will be itching to impress Conte. It will be very different from doing a Nuno and just throwing out a completely different 11 and clearly earmarking them as the B-team.

Disappointing to say the least. What does Markanday have to do?

I don't think Conte has a great record for blooding youth players so I'd be very surprised if Clarke or Markanday feature at all under him, especially as he has clearly earmarked the Europa Conference as a trophy he wants to win. Best bet for them in the short term would be loans I imagine.

If anything we're lucky Skipp and Tanganga got a run in the team before he arrived as I'm not too sure Conte would've considered them otherwise.

Think we win by 3 or more goals whatever team we put out if we turn up and apply ourselves correctly.

In terms of qualification and avoiding an extra two games it's a must win. I can understand the thinking.

No it doesn't make sense. We can bring 12 (!) substitutes with us. We are probably not even doing that. We can make five subs. I would fully understand if he doesn't come on when the game is on the edge. But if we can get a 3-0 lead or something, why not give him a deserved run out to see what he can do here? Its not like we have a team full of goal scoring talent.

Tonight's venue. Don't know what I was expecting, but as far as small grounds go, this looks like a pretty good one. I like its style.

I'm unaware of the rules, if you finish first you miss one stage of the knockout rounds I'm guessing?

Edit: I've discovered this new thing called goggle I think and anyway it said:

The matches will be played on 14 and 16 September, 30 September, 21 October, 4 November, 25 November, and 9 December 2021. The winners of each group will advance to the round of 16, while the runners-up will advance to the knockout round play-offs. The third-placed and fourth-placed teams will be eliminated from European competitions for the season.

Yep, runners-up go into an extra knock-out round vs drop down from Europa League.

Great team

Nice, happy to see a lot of those names.

I hope we play most of the game in a 3-1-4-2 along the lines of:

Gollini
Sanchez Rodon Tanganga
Skipp
Doherty Ndombele Gill Sessegnon
Kane Dele
