Objective for the season- finish above Liverpool

I haven't got great expectations for this season unless we get two or three more top signings in, with the other top clubs strengthening significantly.

I would love us to finish above Liverpool though- fed up with their fans (as ever) and now that smug berk Brendan Rogers talking about how they won't "do a Tottenham". Some of their fans have already decided they haven't- difficult to say before the season has started i would say.

Now Brendan "we have added quality to the group" Rogers informs us they have used a strategy to buy new players!

I think they have bought ok- more Prem experience than our lot but the whole lot of them can't replace Suarez, any more than it is possible to replace Bale, so hopefully it will go horribly wrong for them- and some of our supposed failures will come good.

I think it could go very well for LFC or very badly.. IMO, I like to think they would go with the later and here's why.
Gerrard's legs have gone, Henderson can't reproduce another season like last, neither can Sturridge. Lambert, Lovern and Lallana will be exposed as very average and ineffective

Well here's hoping!

Pointless objective IMO, if we had set an ambition of finishing above Man Utd this time last year we'd all still be pissed off with the final result...

How about objective for the season - play some nice 'spurs style' football and put in a serious challenge on the top 4 and cups.

I agree with this. Suarez really did offer that team so much and with Gerrard effectively on his last breath i think those other players will get exposed somewhat. I think Lallana has Stewart Downing written all over him if i'm honest.

"Win a trophy" would be my objective.

I agree about the whole "doing a Spurs" thing though - someone else reminded us in another thread about what happened last time Liverpool spent £100m...

At a push, they have bought one player (Lovren) who improves their starting eleven from last season.

When asked about Spurs last summer he said "it's a different club and different vision we have here. At Liverpool there's a strategy behind what we're doing."

He's so fucking arrogant and delusional, perfect for that club really. Would love to see them struggle next season!

I was never sold on Lovren to be honest, Lambert at 4m is an absolute steal and Lallana is a good signing for them. I actually thought Remy was a good bit of business for them, thankfully that fell through, I don`t know much about Emre Can and I`ve only seen Markovic in the two legs of the UEFA against us last season, where he played well in the first leg.

Sticking to the objective side and trying not to drift too much into liverpools transfer strategy vs ours (which IMO has been very different)

You can't meassure things like "play the spurs way" so I'd set our objectives as
  • 70+pts in Premier League
  • Finish season with GD of +20 or more (even Everton achieved this last year)
  • Semi final or better in any of the cup competition

That for me would be a sucessful season (y)

Is that felt tip or an actual tattoo?

Objective... make White Hart Lane a place where we can go and enjoy football again, focus entirely on our club, and to hell with the rest of the premier league shower.

Tarrget - to finish abovr everyone....

single out one or two clubs to finish above is already looking at failure.

What if they implode and finish 16th? Would we be happy with 15th? Fuck no!!!

Want to see progress in league and cup under Poch
and evidence that he can influence the performance
of last seasons signings and this positively.
Need the manager to make the sum of the whole
greater than its talented parts.
Not particularly interested in the fortunes of other clubs.

The poetry does make this post less banal.

Only Liverpool could think finishing 1 season above us in 5 constitutes them automatically being better, and last season was down to having suarez and fuck all football to play.
