Offside rule

I would like to suggest for discussion the topic of the new offside rule. The new rule brought in to avoid the limitations of the old rule in that players in an offside position ,say on the touchline following for example a throw in,but in no way affecting subsequent play resulting in a goal would be flagged for offside and the goal disallowed. We can all recall incidents where this was obviously unfair.
However the new rule is too complicated and the application of the interference aspect too dependent on the precise position of the referee and whether he can confidently judge whether a player is in the goalkeepers line of vision.
As a start I suggest the any player in the six yard box is offside if he would have been under the old rules. This would be fairer to the goalkeeper or defenders in the area. The linesman can flag the player offside and the referee should be able to see quickly if the player is in the area when the goal is scored. To enlarge this area to the whole of the penalty area is to reintroduce some of the faults of the old system. However a new rectangle drawn at tweve yards running through the penalty spot could be used for this purpose.I would abolish the Ist and 2nd phase aspects altogether. If this 12yd area is too controversial requiring as it would a change to the traditional layout of a football pitch then I recommend the early introduction of the 6yd offside Zone.

Id actually say anyone int he 19 yard box would be offside regardless (of they are in that position).

From in the box, its easy to pick of rebounds or deflections, so for arguements sake, in the 18 yard box, the original rule, that ANYONE in an offside position inside the 18 yd box should be called for.
