Im a fan of McKennie, and think he’d be good for us.

BUT we have other priories. CM is one of the few places we are relatively strong (Bentacur is class, I think Hojbjerg is underrated and we have Sarr/ Skipp coming through). We need better wing backs, better center backs, rotation for RWF, a new first choice goalkeeper - all before we need CM reinforcements.

But the issue is not whether he would be an upgrade, it’s whether that money should be spent elsewhere. Some of that comes down to Paratici’s long-term planning - can we get a RWB or CB in January or do we need to wait until the summer to get the players we really want?
This is key. It would be pretty farcical to sign a CM, whilst neglecting to upgrade at RWB, for a third consecutive transfer window.

If Skipp hadn't been injured and been playing regularly I believe the way he was progressing last season he could have made the England squad for this WC.
If Skipp was not injured do you think he would have started ahead of Bentancur or Højbjerg at the end of last season? He is a level below both IMO.

The only reason to buy McKennie would be if we intend to consistently play 3-5-2 with no playmaker.

Do not forget Bissouma!
