do people realise it’s still December?
Doesn't matter what month it is if we are all hearing similar whispers. I've shared a few bits behind the scenes recently and haven't posted much publicly because I haven't been getting much at all to be honest. But I've heard a few whispers the past week and although Conte may say he's very happy, to put it simply, he isn't. The club knew what it needed to do when appointing him, and although they backed him to an extent in the summer, Conte needs backing every window! As Trix said, the players we are looking at (I've only heard a few) I'm very confident most of the fan base would be very happy with. It just depends who they will be playing for because as things stand, it could turn pretty nasty very quickly. Conte WILL NOT stay if he isn't being backed as he wants to challenge for trophies. He knows the current crop of players are miles off it and he needs 4/5 top class players to be able to compete (the # of players there is my opinion). It's make or break time (AGAIN) at the club and if Conte isn't happy, we could see the return of an ex sooner rather than later.

Recently been feeling this will be the case. Will be interesting to see how comes across at the end of the Jan window.

If we haven't done anything of significance or enough and Conte seems pretty calm and not overly fussed, I really believe he'll have a exit planned in the summer and even have something already lined up elsewhere and ultimately won't be too bothered about what we did in the Jan window because it won't be his problem a few months down the line. Can imagine it will all be pretty amicable and Levy will have told Poch to sit tight until the summer.
Sadly think you could be right. ENIC are just making us a laughing stock with other fans. Think we could be heading for mid table football for many years to come. Feels so sad can't see anything positive happening soon.

Poch has had his chance and it all went wrong after the cl final. Otherwise he’d still be here. Levy needs to get a grip and back one of the best managers we are lucky to have. It’s not contes fault dier, Sanchez etc are far from his standard.

Sorry just so I can be slightly clearer, if Conte goes, it doesn't mean Poch 100% returns. DL loves him and is in regular contact, but if Conte was to go, there could be a number of changes from within the club. One of those could be DL no longer remaining in his position and therefore Poch is far less likely. There are countless possibilities for what may happen over the next 6 months. It's my fault but it's hard to post info sometimes as obviously some of it is my opinion and I think I might need to be clearer when that's the case.

I'm resigned to it to be honest

How to shoot yourselves in the head by Tottenham Hotspur part (lost count). ??‍♂️

Really hope to see some more positive news sooner rather than later. Grim. ?

yet he's just publicly said that with Tang coming back we're OK at CB. So it is at least partly his fault that the CBs at his disposal bar Romero are shit!

There's little chance of making top 4 with the squad we've got, even with our 3 key South Americans to come back.

Can only hope Conte can last longer than Levy ??

Levy's job is done, and I appreciate the commercial side of things and the stadium and training ground we have had. Paratici's and Conte's jobs are not, and they are more important at this juncture for the club to win and be as successful.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t actually know who we’d be able to get that would be higher calibre than Conte and have that winning mentality. We’d also lose Kane and will struggle for goals.

Things aren't great right now bts, but the players being talked about are decent players(including Porto). Whatever happens with Conte the players we are looking at are at least interesting and decent.
Positive to hear that the players we are targeting are decent.

we need the power struggle to get sorted out though as it seems Levy has brought us as far as he can without totally removing himself from the sporting side which he seems unwilling to do

I think at this point it’s clear the behind the scenes stuff is transmitting to the players. Watched a championship game the other day in the pub (Burnley-Birmingham I think). The energy and creativity was so refreshing to see. I’m so bored of Spurs at the mo.

if we sign Porro does he count as home grown because of his time at City?

To be fair to Conte I don't think he can publicly come out and say the CB's bar Romero aren't up to the task. He has to make do with them until they are replaced.

I don't think anyone, including Conte believes that but until he sees what the club are going to do for him, he's got to keep the current crop happy.
He may end up lumbered with them...until he walks away.

Sporting boss Ruben Amorim says Tottenham target Pedro Porro will only leave if release clause is met

Sporting boss Ruben Amorim insists Tottenham target Pedro Porro will only be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window if his €45million (£39.6m) release clause is met.

The north Londoners are in the market for a new right wing-back with Emerson Royal delivering a number of unconvincing and error-strewn performances, while Matt Doherty and summer signing Djed Spence have struggled for game time under Antonio Conte.

Director of football Fabio Paratici has reportedly identified Porro as a potential solution, with the attack-minded Spaniard having already racked up five assists in 15 appearances in the league and Europe this season.

Spurs are rumoured to have opened talks with Sporting and there were even suggestions they could write off a sell-on clause they are owed for Marcus Edwards in order to lower the fee required to sign Porro.

But now Amorim says he has been assured by Sporting’s hierarchy that his 23-year-old full-back will only be allowed to leave if an interested club pays his £39.6m release clause in full.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of facing Pacos de Ferreira, Amorim explained: ‘With regard to Pedro Porro, we know that there are players in our team who, because of what they have done, are now wanted by other clubs. We had this problem in the summer too.

‘What I was told is that he can only leave if the clause is triggered. And if the clause is triggered, there is nothing we can do.

‘He is playing really well. Like me, he is living one of the best moments of his career and he is only focused on Sporting.

‘We are prepared for anything and we know that there are clubs who can pay the clause. But, until that happens, I think Pedro is safe.’

Porro, who previously spent three years at Manchester City without ever making an appearance for the club, has enjoyed several excellent campaigns with Sporting since joining in 2020.

Conte actually got the opportunity to see the Spaniard up close in the Champions League this season, with Porro playing twice against Spurs and impressing on both occasions – particularly in a 2-0 win for the Portuguese side in September.

In addition to a new right wing-back, Spurs are also believed to be looking at bringing in a centre-back next month as well as a creative playmaker to provide cover for Dejan Kulusevski, whose absence was keenly felt while he was injured.

Seems it’ll have to be the full release clause unless we can do something with Edwards’ sell on clause
