If they could have secured a PL / Championship loan during which he went on to actually play regularly and do well, then that would indeed have been a great option.

Difficult to name the club where that would have come to pass though eh?

And still, very uncertain that that would have outweighed benefits like the confidence he must now have gained from his NT call up and EL medal.

Imagine how unhappy six months on Teeside might have made him.

If it's true I somehow really wouldn't be surprised. The PR and media departments have been less than impressive in recent years for a corporation this size. I have always said if Levy valued the club at billions, we definitely don't look that professional at all in these areas. Most often than not, social media posts from the club were just cringe.. We might as well contract out to better qualified companies in maintaining the PR and communication channels.

Sorry for the OT rant, but as I used to work in this field, it just disappoints me to see the level of standards a club of our size maintained at.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. Yes, they might want to travel to watch the game and be introduced to the other squad members, but they were never going to be part of the playing squad when they haven't been announced nor had a single training session.

They both apparently had medicals on the same day, so I would expect it to come through soon also. Unless there is more to do paper wise to register him as from outside Europe?
