Am I the only one who thinks post conte and Jose we have seem to have shifted back to what brought us the initial success under poch. Buying for the future, and the first team as 2 separate budgets.
Tbh I think comolli did an amazing job looking back. A lot of our players were the you g British players, however, a lot took their time to find their feet and spurs fans don’t have patience.
We complained about bale, Walker, Rose etc.

Let’s hope that these young heads turn out as good! Maybe now we are truly resetting they may be given more of a chance.

Comes across very well, hopefully given what else is going on this weekend he'll turn into a very good player for us in the future.

Apropos of nothing, but presumably he was wearing an unbranded shirt for Blackburn as their sponsor is a vape manufacturer and he was under 18?

Seems that way: https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/blackburn-rovers-defends-totally-wicked-27313123

“As our principal club sponsor, the Totally Wicked logo will appear on the front of our first team home, away and third shirts, and on adult replica kits, but not on any playing shirts or replica shirts for under-18s."

Interesting spot!

Fun fact, the reason we knew about the release clause was because we suggested to his agents that he put it in there when he penned his professional contract last year (we were trying for him then too).

That's hilarious
Not digging at you two at all, but more the situation. Just can't help thinking of the sniping at other big clubs taking advantage of smaller teams in this way and the hypocrisy doesn't quite sit right.

It’s not the best look but to be fair, we then tried to pay above the release clause to get him and they turned it down.

So is this chap likely to push for a first team squad place, or is he more for the development group?

Yeah, to be fair I'm a bit easier with this as the Venky's seem like twats.

As a general rule, though, I see a lot of slagging the city's and chelsea's of the world foe the way they steal kids from teams and can't help but note it seems to be ok when we do it.

I realise it is just part of the eco system throughout football but I do feel for supporters of smaller teams. They have their 'Kane' moments far more frequently then we do and it must hurt.

Its difficult to say isn’t it. If it was Conte/Jose you know the answer is No. but with Ange, we don’t k ow what to expect. We DO know he makes the most of substitutions because he expects his wing back and MF to run themselves into the ground so expect mass subs around the 60 to enable us to maintain the energy.

He has played just 10-15 games for Blackburn in total, so I'd only expect him to get in the squad if we have two or three defensive injuries (for now). Wouldn't be surprised if we loan him out to a League 1 / Championship side this season.

I've been thinking about this too.
The fact we were going to fly him out to join the tour, now coupled with welcome vids that we don't usually do for youth signings, makes me think he's going into the first team squad.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

To be fair when dier is the competition it won't be hard to get on the bench.

Think he’s expected to be loaned out
Where have you heard that?
I just think it's a bit unusual for us to do the whole interview thing with a young, £2m signing, if he's not going to be around the first team next season.

It feels like a big gamble to be honest but maybe the powers that be see something in this kid that they like?

Yes it is interesting. Maybe it's because the U18 market is already saturated by addicted consumers already. Luckily any under 18 won't be looking at the vape ads on the over 18 players' shirts.

Hope he’s involved today. Looking forward to how he measures up against good opposition.
