With all the madness in the world right now, forgot I wanted to post this:

I think Davies is a player we can upgrade - but, what an effort to cover for the skipper's blunder.

Aye then 10 mins later a simple ball comes to him as last man and he lets it run under his foot for them to nearly score ! Needs upgraded

Excellent from Davies, but really what the fack was that from Hugo, fine to make a mistake with his clearance but then tried to take the dude out! strange from someone with so much experience

Can probably upgrade him talent wise, but for attitude, committment to the club and sheer professionalism, you'd be hard pushed. He had a nightmare couple of games recently but hasn't let it get to him. Top attitude.

I don’t really get this upgrade argument. I mean, sure, he can be upgraded but then we could upgrade every player bar Kane with someone better and even Kane could be upgraded with Mbappe.

Since when have we ever had 20 odd players that can’t be upgraded upon? This is basically impossible for any club. Imo we shouldn’t be so focussed on whether he can be upgraded, of course he can, we should ask ourselves how valuable/useful to the squad is he compared to other players we could also upgrade on.

It's the last replay where he does slow down and changes his run.

I don't know if he has had a look at the player behind him, but he cuts off any pass getting back to him.

Outstanding defending from him, and great from Sessegnon as well

Yup, really bugs me actually. He’s one of the players that is actually doing well in his position. Right now he’s first choice and rightly so.

We need someone in to compete with him, as he is the only one of the defenders who can comfortably play that LCB role.

Agreed. Also, and while I can’t be sure, I reckon Conte probably sees a few other areas of concern that require more urgent attention.

And even if LCB is a big concern of his I’d be surprised if he wants Ben totally out of the club. He’d be a great back up even if we signed the best LCB in the world tomorrow.

Definitely, but I think he’s earned the right to be competing with whoever comes in rather than being considered a loyal squad player.

Apart from that poor pass against Wolves he has hardly put a foot wrong in his last 5 matches. Do we need another option at LCB? off course we do but he is a player you can count on to play 25 games a season if called upon. His distribution is underrated and he understands what Conte wants from that position.

Also and this might be get a few raised eyebrows but he is more of a Conte type player then Regulion is due to his inconsistent performances.

Right now he is first choice as LCB because we don't have another left footed centre back to speak of. Nice guy and great pro but this is exactly the mentality that keeps us 'Spursy' - he gets nowhere near City, Liverpool and Chelsea squads, let alone first choice, so we should be looking for an upgrade if we are serious about trying to compete with them.

Suggest you watch Southampton's first goal again.

Bollocks. Tsimikas or whatever his name is at Liverpool you wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Trevor Chalobah has played 14 games in the premiership this season for Chelsea...you wouldn't want us to sign him. Is he any better then Tanganga? Is Nathan Ake any better then Davies at that position...I don't think he is and and don't get me started on Arsenal and Utd's defensive options.

It is an utter myth that all top teams have this depth of quality players just sitting there waiting for an opportunity.

Tsimikas is decent.

I like Davies, but he can realistically be improved on, its a complete fact. He does fit his current position like a glove, i have no doubt we could improve on him, and it wouldn't be a kings ransom either. This would then give us very good strength in depth.

I don't think anyone has said he can't be improved upon, but he's not exactly a massive issue right now either.

And the poster you've replied to is basically highlighting that none of the clubs, outside of City really have the amazing strength in depth that people believe we should have.

In an attacking sense, yes, but not on the defensive side.

Davies has shown he's a very very capable LCB in this system. Can he be improved upon? Yes. Is it a major issue if he's not this summer? No.

Tsimukas is decent because of the system Liverpool play.

So what part of my post is "bollocks" in your opinion. Or is it all of my post?
