They obviously frustrated us as have other teams like Sheffield this season but did we manage any on target shots at all in that first half? What shots did we have? I can only recall Maddison putting one in row Z from the Richarlison knock down. But generally speaking you had Richarlison having the touch of a trampoline, Biss and Saar losing possession an Porro and Kulu not up to much. I don’t think we played badly coz as you say Palace did well but you can’t exactly say we played really well that first half.

once we got that own goal in the second half we played a bit better and then at 2-0 we just controlled the game pretty well.

He's not a bad player but he doesn't really have the right skillset for how we now play.
If we properly doing this rebuild, then we have to be ruthless.
We have to start upgrading the weaker squad members and due to our style, Davies falls into that category (like Dier and as much as I hate to say it, probably Skipp too).

Thought he did really well today. Emerson trying to dribble out of the back was a concern in the first half but defensively I think as a pairing today they were solid enough and second half helped play out of the back better. Davies has always been good at sliding the ball forward in my view with the right weight on the pass.

Always been a good user of the ball. Only problem with Ben
is his top end speed. Which is not bad just not enough. (Especially next to Dier or Royal)

One of the worst things to happen on Spurs internet is that Ben Davies gets lumped into the same category as Dier or Sanchez. He is an ultra reliable player who bails us out time and time again.

He has his shortcomings for sure, but he is far better than many give him credit for.

All the 'traditional' teams have a player such as BD. Someone who is the club but goes on upraised (is that a word?). I'm so pleased he is here, sometimes in the background, at Spurs and can be called upon in times of crisis. Ange I think sees that also and he has been a Captain also in the past. Loyalty. But having said that, where could he go and do or be better than Spurs?

I think you are right - he has been loyal and we have relied on him and he's better than he's given credit for. The squad as a whole has to improve though - even though we have depended on Davies we need to up the quality of our understudies. It's not that he is awful, it's that we want there to be less of a drop off from the first team players.

It seems strange to but I remember well some seasoned United fans being certain that Wes Brown would be the next United wonder-kid. IIRC, he started to pick up niggling injuries and his form just nose-dived.
