When Son goes to the Asia cup I think I’d like to see him up front rather than Richarlison. I’d go:

Johnson
Richy Deki

He reminds me of a young Son a bit.
Fully agree. I actually think he'll be sons successor long term so I hope he's taking notes. It'll be interesting to watch if he can take that responsibility of being one of the main players to contribute. The raw ingredients are there thats for sure.

Seems like there are quite a few who haven't really understood Johnson's strengths and weaknesses, which is understandable given he's played limited minutes.

Many are disappointed in his 1 on 1 ability, and yes, he is not a Doku type player who will look to dribble his fullback again and again.

However, his pace and directness has already proven to be a big asset for us.

Sheffield United - he was marginally offside, but showed great skill and composure to put it in the net after running in behind the defence.

Palace - he was the main creator for the second goal, headed the ball quickly to Maddison (instead of slowing it down) and made a quick run into the box and assisted Son.

Chelsea - Should have had a brilliant assist (one touch pass with weaker foot) but Son went a fraction too early for his offside goal.

Wolves - Showed great movement from the left-hand side to get past his fullback and behind the CBs to score a tap in at the near post.

City - Great assist for Kulu's goal, where he used his acceleration to create space vs Walker before putting in an excellent cross.

Villa & Arsenal - Was involved in some big chances and was unlucky not to score. He had an individual xG of 1,75 in these two matches without finding the net.

Fans who aren't encouraged by his start in a Spurs shirt, haven't been paying attention, IMO.

Yes he may not contribute as much or as well in the defensive side yet

but what do we want / should prioritise for an attacking purchase?

Attacking output isn’t it, and his output from his first bunch of matches is very very good, almost deki-esque

He’s showing enough to at least stick with. Shane Solomon and Perisic are out though. Gil doesn’t seem to be grabbing his chance
I keep saying it but ears seem to be covered. Gil is not a winger and has played all his good games in Spain playing more in a Madders role with pass and move. He is not a player to beat his man with pace and whip in pin point crosses. Frustrates the hell out of me that we do not play him in his best position and structure the team to suit his skill set. Sadly I think he will go in the summer if not before and another club probably in Spain will reap the rewards of playing him in his best position.

There's a huge amount for Ange and coaches to work with given his pace and at times his coolness as well. One of the hardest things to try and improve will be his decision making, the 2 shots he took in the game from outside the box were really poor decisions given the other options available to him. All players make poor decisions but these two really stood out.
Get better players around him consistently after we have likes of Bentancur, Maddison etc and he will look even better.
Very exciting talent and could prove a snip

I was unsure if Gibbs-White or him was the right one to buy from Forest but his performances show me we chose the right one.

Shame that he had such bad preseason due to his injury. He won't be 100% for a while yet and has to stay healthy, and he will get tackled hard in the future since he's fast, but he will only get better.

Huge change of tactics from Forrest that achieved the lowest amount of possession percentage in top 5 leagues and that's all about counters to what we are doing now. Has to get fully fit and learn the tactics, gel with new players and only then will we get that best of him. And he's already contributing and helping us get points. Another good signing for sure.

The burst of pace yesterday to get beyond the defender was a joy to watch. It's great that we seem to have a front line that can all add different attributes to our attacking game. Really happy we got him, wasn't overly keen when we were first linked but he's proven to be a good buy so far, hopefully he can start getting a few more goals and push on further this season.

He has all the raw materials to be a really brilliant player plus he has outstanding pace. I think he could develop into a star.
He has that Bale type of pace where it's strong running as well. Some smaller players accelerate quickly but get knocked over easily when at full speed... he is like a train when he gets the chance to really go at someone.

He has incredible acceleration but those bursts of speed seem to take it out of him for a few minutes afterwards. If it's a lack of match fitness, fine. If not, I'd like to see him work with a middle distance running coach (an 800 metre specialist perhaps?) who can train him to combine high basic pace with outrageous bursts of speed and rapid recovery.

Much as I would like him to succeed, he cannot cope physically with our league .
When we signed him I looked on you tube and my first thought was…..he’s going to get flattened.

He always takes up the correct positions and has excellent decision making for a player of his age, couple that with his blistering acceleration he has the tools to be a superstar.
