Why would they give away an asset worth so much just to get Eriksen 6 months early? They can have him for nothing soon.

Problem is, Eriksen waited till the last season really to say he wanted to go, and even then he was all "I could still sign a new contract". He was a rat faced little scrot.

It´s not great here either tbf. Madrid is cold in the winter, maybe not as cold as the UK but still cold. Less wet though, though the last few days haven´t been great. Bale will be forced out, I'm sure, the only question is if Madrid will be willing to pay for his wages.
We should have acted sooner and sold him the summer before. As soon as you let players get to 18 months left on contract you lose all the power. Hopefully we will learn from this, no player is bigger than the club.

Again you cannot sell a player who doesn't want to go, he done the exact same thing at Ajax. Can you imagine the shit storm from fans if he was sold when him he said he wanted to stay?

But then I think that both Ajax and us were hoping he would turn around and sign a new deal. None of us were offering him out to clubs, which is always worth doing if you want to get rid...

Depends on the fee. If it was known that he refused to sign a new deal, then I at least would accept it if it was invested wisely. I only want players who want to be here, end of.

I agree, but at the time most comments from the player and the ITK was he was willing to extend his contract. If we had of sold our best player we would still have been called a selling club and Levy was a money grabbing leach. Personally I think leaving on a free was always Eriksen's end game. Prime age, no transfer, massive salary.

I agree. I think that at no point was he considering extending. The same goes for TA, but I think he might have changed his mind now if none of the clubs he wanted has been interested in signing him.
I know that people like to do the whole "selling club" thing, but for me it's always ok as long as we know why. With Kyle Walker we knew that the fucker wanted out, I had no problem seeing him go then. Just charge as much as possible, then let him fuck off. But that's my opinion, I know other think otherwise.

Walker did it the right way, Eriksen on the other hand tried to come out of it all looking like a nice guy, when really he just wants a pay day.

Not even a payday. He could be paid almost as much here. He was hoping to get a club at the absolute top, following his career trajectory. Then Real and Barcelona dissapointed him by not wanting him.
