It's a shame how much he has dropped off. From the documentary and his interviews I wouldn't be surprised if he suffers from depression.

Wherever he ends up, i hope he gets back to enjoying playing.

The problem is if he comes back to us he is very unlikely to play regularly, the squad has moved on. Does he really want to sit around and wait for a Gio injury at his age.

We need a youngish understudy. However having said all that, we were looking at Van der Beek.

Yeah I know what he said but it has to be within reason, I can't see Levy paying him that much and you're right, we shouldn't. Maybe something creative can be worked out.

A motivated, point to prove Eriksen would be great. But would we get that?

Maybe he needed to fulfil an error and learn something about himself; he’d already decided to go way before Mourinho came in. As a loan it’s a decent idea, but as you say ‘would we get (a motivated) Eriksen?

Interesting you say that. Havnt seen much of the documentary but he always struck me as a very flat kind of guy, never looked particularly happy...body language does give away a lot imo.

Get the feeling Eriksen could of been one of the worlds best with a different mentality.

If he has grown because of the experience, he could well be. The lure of greener pastures has broken many hearts. Reconciliation can be more fulfilling that the original relationship.

I dont think its a matter of motivation at all. How much more motivated could there be then to play for one of the giants of Europe. He is playing badly and has done so for two years ,his performance last night was abysmal, and when he went of Inter were losing .Once he was off they looked a different team and went on to win. It was like they were playing with ten men when he was playing. I very much doubt tat they will start him again .
Like it or not he is finished as a top rate footballer and will never return to the world class levels he once had.I dont know the reason why this has happened but I dont want to see him playing for us again in this mode.
As I said before lets just remember how good he was and not tarnish those memories further.

I know that there are a lot of ‘ifs’ but ...

if Conte / Inter wants rid of him, they may accept a lower transfer fee, as they would be removing a player that they don’t want/need , thus saving on paying his wages for the remainder of his contract with them and receiving some funds to help get in other players that they are looking at.

If CE desperately wants out of Inter and is willing to roll up his sleeves if he returns here, I’m sure Levy could work out a salary package that may be agreeable by both parties

If Jose is happy with CE as cover for GLC or be used in rotation , it could convince Levy to consider getting CE back

I don't see a role for him in our team any more. The creative passing will come from deeper with Ndombele and LoCelso and we really have to have Kane, Son and Bale on the pitch whenever we can. We're struggling to find a role for Dele as it is so adding Eriksen would muddy the waters even more. I'd prefer we look for a deep playmaker (like Brozovic but not necessarily him) who can ping the long passes but hold down a defensive role too.

If we weren’t thinking back to wht he’d been 18-24 months ago, and were viewing him solely through a prism of his last year, across the final six months on the fringe here then the relative failure in Italy, would we be so happy to entertain a return? I’m not sure. The argument that he’s not the player he was is pretty strong, but it‘s hard to forget the seasons when he was our beating heart. Nostalgia says he can do it again, but that’s defying reason given the fact we thought he was holding back/protecting himself from potential injury/not committed in that end game with us but this big fresh new start has failed to invigorate him. For me, I’ll always think fondly of his best days with us, but I’m not sure going back is the right move.

Hleb won the Champions League, La Liga and Copa Del Rey with Barca in one season, plus numerous other winners' and runner-up medals in his career. Not sure he'll have many regrets looking back.
