So did we put an option to buy in the loan agreement?
Don't think we did?

Aren't we hedging our bets that Barcelona will still want shot of him and might even cancel his contract, so agreeing a fee for him that might not even be needed wouldn't make sense?

He will start 100% of games against teams that low block us, plus most games at home. He’s a perfect progressive passer in games where we’ll see the majority of the ball.

Fully expect to see Davies back in the team against Citeh, and Lenglet start against Leicester.

Looks a cracking signing.
Arguably he'll be needed against City. We won't have lots of the ball so when we get it, we need to retain it and he & Romero are more comfortable in possession than Davies & Sanchez.

I agree, getting the ball beyond their midfield smartly will be very important. He's an experienced player, will be up to Conte to judge if he's settled enough in the system.

Love a player that takes a considered first touch to put the ball both in a safe position and also tee themselves up to immediately play it. Always looks class, and takes a brain and a good first touch.

Will be interesting to see him against a team like Chelsea who will A) press aggressively and B) inevitably ask questions of you defensively.
I thought he was very good on the weekend but there were certainly moments he was out of position and could have been exploited were he playing against better opposition. That is 100% understandable as it was his first start in a new league and system but I don't think we are yet at a point were one can say he is the better defender. That being said, as i mentioned when we first got him, i think he has the potential to be one of our best signings and could well excel in a back three. I am expecting a few growing pains tho once he start playing against a higher standard. Personally i wouldn't be starting him against City yet for example.

AFAIK he has struggled with confidence at Barcelona from mistakes there. Would be risky to put him in against City as a second start without getting a chance to slowly grow into the team. Prefer steady Davies.

But surely having a player like Lenglet in the team that is more comfortable against the press and more likely to play a good outlet ball for us to break is going to be key vs City. We aren’t going to get many chances and City will be more prepared for us this time around so the quality of the breaks are going to need to be as good as possible.

I think the Barça fans got on his back from a couple of mistakes and his poor defending was overblown.

Let’s wait and see. I personally think he’ll go for Davies’ PL experience and defensive nous against City, especially as we play away. I’d expect Lenglet to start on Wednesday though.

With our midfield two being marked out of games at times, the onus is on the defenders to play a big part in the build up. Our CB's ideally all need to have a level of comfort and skill on the ball.

If he has a really strong season I wonder what we'll do?

Would we still push hard and try to sign someone like Bastoni for a massive fee, or would we settle for the older but PL proven Lenglet on the cheap and spend the money elsewhere?

Be an option as cover for CCB, too. I’m still hesitant to suggest that as a realistic option until we see him some more, though.

Thought he actually defended very well tonight. Was impressed. His ball playing was actually not that great, but we know that's his strength and the whole team was off in the first half
