As a defender, i hated inviting pressure. It's actually mentally tiring having the ball cleared and come back immediately. I would rather have the ball at my feet players showing options to move the ball forward. Under Jose we just invited so much pressure that Kane was on the halfway line for a lot of it. Sanchez got to make 2 or 3 mistakes in a few minutes because the ball would come right back. When we controlled the game he looked a lot better, as did a lot of our defence.

Agree with this - i'm a centre back as well. The worst thing as a defence is having to constantly deal with pressure and never fully being able to push up the back line and reset. It's much better when your team have the ball, or at least press from the front, so you can find your markers and keep a solid shape.

Jose seem to set us up so the midfield was stretched, the front players hardly pressed in the opposition half, and there were limited passing options from the back. All this just invited the opposition to keep the ball in our half and take it in turns peppering out defence. It seemed to raise the confidence of the opposition and decimate ours. Leading to these constant errors.

Also leads to a lot of freekicks around the edge of your box, which are a **** to deal with in the last 20 minutes of the game. Especially with VAR being so strict on fouls and handballs in the box.

Be nice if we could wrap it up ASAP so he could have some involvement on Sunday. Ben White signed for Arsenal on a Friday and was playing on the Sunday. So hopefully Romero can get training even if it’s not formally announced until Friday/Saturday.

One thing that will really please me when Romero signs is I will finally stop having to figuring out which ‘Rom’ is being referred to.

On one hand we have had the player, Cristian Romero.
Then we have our great community teammate Romario.
Lastly, we have the journo Fabrizio Romano.

When Romario quotes Romano in the Romero thread it takes me 15 minutes to figure out who the heck is who :D
You know we're starting to get linked to a left footed CB called................ Romagnoli. So in the Romero thread, Romario will tell us how well Romagnoli fits playing alongside Romero whilst we all wait to for here we go from Romano.

That took me 15 mins to write due to spelling errors, corrections and half a dozen proof readings. And I'm still not convinced I've got it right.

I’m assuming he’s flying tomorrow since we have a game on today & then that should allow him to be training by Tuesday ?

wouldnt be surprised if we see video of him getting on the plane later tonight, sort of like we did with gollini. they seem to be very open about things like that in italy

I wish someone could tell us why this is dragging so much. Getting closer, sorting final details etc is all bollocks. Someone in the media must be able to find out haha

All this just makes it more unlikely he starts the season. I worry with our CB’s vs City.

Quite simply because it's not dragging at all. It takes time to travel between countries during a pandemic, with a greater amount of admin. Breathe.
