As a defender, i hated inviting pressure. It's actually mentally tiring having the ball cleared and come back immediately. I would rather have the ball at my feet players showing options to move the ball forward. Under Jose we just invited so much pressure that Kane was on the halfway line for a lot of it. Sanchez got to make 2 or 3 mistakes in a few minutes because the ball would come right back. When we controlled the game he looked a lot better, as did a lot of our defence.
Agree with this - i'm a centre back as well. The worst thing as a defence is having to constantly deal with pressure and never fully being able to push up the back line and reset. It's much better when your team have the ball, or at least press from the front, so you can find your markers and keep a solid shape.
Jose seem to set us up so the midfield was stretched, the front players hardly pressed in the opposition half, and there were limited passing options from the back. All this just invited the opposition to keep the ball in our half and take it in turns peppering out defence. It seemed to raise the confidence of the opposition and decimate ours. Leading to these constant errors.
