Going forward he was part of our problem…didn’t know what to do..
Not really, his pressing and aggression was driving us forward. The reason we struggled to break them down was that they went into two banks of four in a very narrow low block. We play with inverted wingers and wingbacks the majority of our play goes through the middle of the park. It’s no surprise that the one time Porro overlapped instead over underlapping we got some joy.

I thought he was great today. He's a very clever passer of the ball, waits for the perfect time to pass and plays around the press immaculately.

Defensively he was almost spot on too. Read everything and got to a lot of their long balls first.

He is class. Gets you nervous when he waits til the last second to pass the ball but then he is always so accurate and assured. World class as far as Im concerned.

In my mind, I thought Ange would have subbed him off in the last 10 mins as he seemed to slow the build up as he usually does but now we were playing against 9.

but then he might have been the one to demand the ball from midfield / deki and played the ball to Porro which resulted in the Matip OG

kudos 👏🏻

I thought today was a significant moment for Romero, the level of maturity he showed, the leadership and the calmness. Yet the quality of his defending didn't go down, it went up.

Kulu, Romero, Porro showed some real fight and leadership at the end. Mentality was brilliant.

Emerson, Davies and Skipp settled us down

What a difference a few months makes, eh? The way he stared down Adebayo twice - used to enjoy figuring out who's soul he would steal in the 80th minute, ploughing them into the underworld, but he's really grown into this vice captains role. Top stuff.

The level of calm he's now playing with, which is making him into a much better defender, is incredible.
