A few teams have been absolutely decimated by injuries. Off the top of my head, us, Utd, Newcastle and Brighton. Are there more injuries overall this year than other years I wonder.
I think more evidence would be needed to correlate a pattern but you do wonder with the increased usage/scrutiny of VAR leading to delays along with the additional minutes in injury time is increasing the likelihood of injuries - particularly hamstrings but there’s a fair few ACL’s this season too notably across the clubs.

meanwhile arsenal basically roll out the same 11 every game. would love to see them cope without saliba, gabriel, rice and odegaard for half the season.

I wouldn’t subscribe to that though - outside of Bentancur these are all severe ligament injuries not caused by impact;
Maddison
vdV
Romero
Perisic
Solomon

Injuries are of course part and parcel of navigating through a season but the severity of each coupled with the lack of European games makes this quite an exceptional campaign for bad fortune on our behalf.
I don't think it's just bad luck.

For nearly four seasons, we decided to appoint managers who played very low intensity football.

Suddenly, we switch to the polar opposite approach, and demand extreme high-intensity pressing combined with desperate sprints.

No wonder our players aren't conditioned for that!

It isn't bad fortune, it's Long Mourinho.

Even as someone who's relatively pro-Levy, the decision to hire that man was inexcusable with the consequences being so long-lasting and so easy to foresee.

Again, unsurprising that a club which has had the same manager for years, and a relatively similar philosophy before that, is more prepared for it than one which seems to just go for the flavour of the month and swing back and forth like a grandfather clock

Thats a bit harsh on Mourinho considering VdV and Maddison weren't here, neither was Bentancur who also got an acl last season, Perisic and Soloman weren't here either, in fact neither was Romero

Calvert-Lewin stamped on Romero early on in the last match - deliberate in my mind.

Maddison was kicked to pieces every game he played.

Son is often target by all opponents, ie. v Forest a few weeks ago by Yates & Co

Can Scarlett play there?! We're fucking cursed man. Drag ourselves into touching distance despite it all and then another key member goes down. FFS.

That whole style of play - Mourinho, Nuno and Conte. Especially as his disastrous tenure led directly to Nuno being the only sod who'd actually take the job that summer, and Conte then being one of very few realistic options to replace him.

The football gods love seeing Dier on the pitch. I can't remember a period where he's been injured for a sustained period in nearly 10 years of being with us

Call it reactionary if you want, though it was said at the time - but not signing another centre back in the summer was negligence of the highest order

There were huge debates on here with many many posters saying that "no one is going to come and sit on the bench" and "we only have 1 game a week" and other such guff, as reasons not to buy more than one CB last summer.

Consequently, our chicken have come home to roost.

Absolutely baffling the amount of injuries. I feel for Ange. So frustrating that we can’t catch a break.

Something is clearly wrong here.

Either the medical team needs replacing, or something needs to change in training.

Way too many muscle injuries for this stage of the season.
