VdV hamstring was down to 1) He’s had some minor issues with this in the past, and 2) lots of players this season are suffering muscle injuries due to long VAR stoppages and added extra time.. NOT A SYSYEM PROBLEM
Madders - bad tackle and a twist. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Bentancur - Matty Cash is a psychopath. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Solomon - Meniscus tear in training. Just an accident. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Perisic - see Solomon.
Lo Celso - missed a few games. Because he’s made of glass. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Richy - Injury predated Ange. Down to too much pigeon dancing. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Sess - Predates Ange. Predates the jurassic period. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Sarr - Missed two games. After being injured on international duty. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
Johnson - Missed four games due to lack of preseason and was already having some small issues in that department. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.
I think there is a group think narrative that might happen if folks keep leaning into this ‘system’ theory. Could be one or two fit into this category. But all I am seeing is awful luck. That unusually coincides with adapting a more aggressive style of play.
I don’t recall a time like this at Spurs. With all these ‘long term’ injuries and to top it off, a window of time we are forced to miss three key players through international tournaments and some really dumb suspensions.
As far as I’m concerned, the business side of our season starts on Feb 10. I expect all those injured back, one or two new players, everyone back from international duty. Ange has more than 14 fit players. That’s about five league games. And one or two cup games. I just hope we are able to hang in the latter. As I know we will sadly be stuck again with a very weak back 4 against Burnley.
Lastly… Romero. Dude. Gotta stop missing 30% of every season through injuries and suspension. Ya killin’ us!!
