I saw this, and in addition to Conte’s quote about looking to the bench then back to the pitch, this makes some sense. Granted I’d rather Bergwijn start then Lucas, but this does create a game changing option off the bench, as Conte doesn’t see Bergwijn as a game changer.

Different class to Moura. Kuluveski can actually think about what he is doing rather than rely just on instinct.

Deki can seriously play. What a change in our build up play when he came on. So calm and intelligent on the ball.

But... last time against Leicester. Isn't that exactly what Bergwijn was?

Jadon Sancho age 22
Premier league
3 goals
3 assists
20 starts for united this season
Cost of signing £73 million

Kulusevski age 22
Premier league
3 goals
8 assists
11 starts for Spurs
Cost of signing, potentially about half of what United paid for Sancho.

Excellent acquisition.

Oh I agree 100% that Bergwijn can be a game changer, I’m saying Conte hasn’t been giving him enough meaningful minutes off the bench for him to do anything since.

I was a big fan of Kulusevski before this game, but I bloody love him now.

His attitude off the bench is exactly what you want to see as a fan. The boy so clearly lives and breathes football and was giving it absolutely everything from the second he came on.

His composure to set up Son's first goal may well be what won us the game today. Before that we were tense, but it was his patience (and Son's fantastic finish) that killed the game and made it comfortable rather than an edgy finish.

Perhaps he just needed a nudge, it's easy for young players to get complacent?

I half thought that but I’d rather give him the benefit of the doubt and say that both him and bentancur’s levels have dropped in the last couple of weeks because of fitness and playing at a higher intensity than they were previously used too. They have played 90 minutes in virtually every game and I think they’ve just got tired. It’s no surprise. It’s one reason why Skipp is such a huge miss.

Good move by conte dropping him today, whether he was getting a bit complacent or his form was just dipping naturally, either way he came off the bench with a point to prove and should be fired up for the final 4 games now
