Excellent. Sort Raya out next and then concentrate on finally addressing the backline properly and shuffling the midfield around a bit.

Welcome (back) Kulu.

So, we are all under the impression that these funds are coming directly from any potential transfer funds we had allocated for this summer, and not reserved funds when we knew almost a year ago we wanted this to be a permanent deal, right?

€5m isn’t chicken feed particularly when you’re looking at big losses on outgoings among all of the transfer business required this summer. Every penny will be crucial so Levy is doing what Levy does.

It should come out of the Jan 22 budget. Just like Porro’s fee should come out of the Jan 23 budget.

if it comes out of this summer’s budget, then we didn’t spend nearly enough in those two previous windows!

Great player with a great footballing brain too which is something most of our squad don’t have. Whoever suggested getting rid give your head a wobble and fist yourself (y)

Not really, would imagine it will be similar to the original terms agreed, to be paid over the next 5 years.

I’ll be candid: not hugely bothered about signing him. I feel he’s been hit n miss. And would rather Ange make the choice as opposed to a club buy…

Yeah was very underwhelming this season despite starting a fair amount of games. Even if you want to disregard the low goals/assists return, he never really made a big impact in most games and it appeared that opposition defences figured his style out and the quality and end product was severely lacking. Feel the money could go towards Maddison and someone to potentially challenge or rotate with Son. Can also see Porro playing more of a role out wide on the right

Who wasn’t underwhelming last season, aside from Kane? Total write off.

I like that you’re honest about your opinion Dave, but I think you’re very wrong about this one. He is top quality.

His downturn in form last season was about the confidence hit imo, started making bad decisions which was his primary attribute before. Under a manager who wants brave attacking football above all else he should thrive

But what's the long term benefit? Makes Levy a dick to many clubs and difficult to deal with in the future, don't you think? all for a 5 fucking million euro savings.
Only if you think Levy is the only one person in football trying to negotiate and not overpay in every deal.

Who says Ange hasn't made the choice?
It's already been said that he's being consulted over deals, so I doubt that Levy has just gone ahead with this without him giving it the green light.

I know Levy has form for going rogue on signings but this doesn't feel like one of those to me. Deki is a very good and versatile player, I would think that most managers would be happy with a player like him in their squad.

Think if Ange's system can get the best out of him then his potential is massive (as we saw in his first season). He's calm, clever and a great player but I think he needs the system to create space for him due to his lack of pace. Last season once teams figured us/him out and he wasn't able to cut inside as much, he struggled a bit and then lost a bit of confidence.

In a fluid system where his every move isn't clearly broadcast in advance like it was last season under Conte, I hope he'll be more like 21-22 Kulu.

I get the sense his confidence was low, some teams figured out how to lock him down, and he seemed to really go off the boil post World Cup.

Based on his first six months, and the beginning of this last season, and you factor in his age… this is a no brainer. The player who was lighting it up for fun is still there. Just needs to hit the reset button.

yeah. the drop off this season from his own high standards was shocking. he went from beating his man most of the time to hardly ever.

hopefully we haven't seen the reason why Juventus were willing to sell him

“It’s a very good question, I’ve been thinking about this all my whole life. I always thought of me being a No 10, I still think I am, but my best results as a football player have always come being a right winger, so I don’t know! In the future, we will see where I’ll be.”

Was I the only one that was quite chill about this whole deal owing to the fact Kulu seems to be fully COYS now and I couldn’t see him wearing another shirt anymore? Or am I just really naive for feeling that way?
