I wonder if that means we have an alternative to pull the trigger on come the weekend. Otherwise why have a deadline if the alternative is signed after anyway. Might as well keep this one open until an alternative is signed.

I imagine if we bring players in who miss the flight we'll fly them out anyway. That way they'll only miss a few days, I can't see us making them wait until we get back before integrating them into the squad.
Was just about to say the same thing

I think the point is they have so far steadfastly ignored our deadlines. I'm not sure what will change at the weekend, other than if we do walk away with the best will in the world it will take a while to get the replacement in.

The structure of the agreement is what’s the block atm seem to have overcome the fee still hopeful this will get concluded we are working towards a week end deadline on this .
That’s very last minute if we want it done in time for SK tour. Let’s hope it gets sorted before then.

It is surprising that he wasn’t in training, but I just don’t believe that none of our ITKs would have heard anything of it was that close.

Or journos. Someone would have leaked it if that were the case. What’s more likely is that we are still at an impasse and will either leave it now and revisit later in the window or move onto other targets. What Rebrab says is the most likely case I reckon.

He’s not going to come in as first choice if it is him so doesn’t really need to be going to Korea. Besides preseason is longer than one week.

Fingers crossed we get this one over the line, I think he will surprise a lot of people at how good he is.

I’m definitely a much bigger supporter of this move than most it seems. And I do actually see him as one of my top 3 realistic options (excl. Hakimi) for the role. I really do. Just taking into account the transfer itself. Besides the long boring saga, I don’t think the price is egregious, but then again I’m sitting here with no info obvs on the money. And then the HG factor is super important too. But I struggle to see many better players for the role too. Elite athlete, elite physical profile, elite ball carrier, elite mover in the box with great instincts, high volume take on machine. Solid and tough defensively. Can drive/strike a football with power. Improve crossing variety? Yes ofc that’s his biggest weakness, but it’s not a lack of ideas or ability in the final third. He’ll create space by himself, but then it’s mostly cutbacks or low crosses. Develop whipped and lofted crosses. I’m not gonna lie and say it isn’t necessary, because it definitely is. But with Perisic’s elite final ball and through linking up with Kulusevski, I think those will be his main attacking uses. Attack the back post with intent, and him and Kulusevski can work together in more settled build up. And lastly as I mentioned a while ago, it’s his mentality that I absolutely adore. Many young players are safe with the ball and take on as little responsibility as possible. Spence is the opposite, and he also has the “don’t give a fuck” attitude where it doesn’t matter who he’s playing with or against, he’ll just go out there and play his game his way. I love to see his type aggression and character in young players. It’s the main reason I have no worry about a step up in level.
