I must say this is starting to feel like one of those transfers that drags on for a long while then fall apart over the fine print. I really hope i'm wrong and it does actually get tied up in the next day or two but I am starting to think it wont happen. If Conte wants a WB by the weekend time is def getting tight.
Yeah I'm surprised we're cutting it this fine.

Not the end of the world if our RWB and LCB are slightly behind in the pre-season training, but knowing Conte he'll be very annoyed if Djed and Lenglet (or equivalent) aren't on the plane to Korea.

It seems ridiculous to say it considering the incomings already but i've no doubt Conte would have wanted 75% of incomings (especially high priority CB and RWB deals) to be done in time for pre-season tours. At the moment we're at about 50% and behind schedule if that is the case. He's not a business man and won't care for the games Gibson is playing, so I can't see him being particularly happy if nothing is completed over the next few days. He's not a man you want to piss off with 12 months remaining on his deal.

Yeah - I think he'd cut Paratici/Levy some slack given the great business we've done but I think those are such key positions in his system that he would definitely want those players in particular to be available for as a much of the pre-season as possible. He's never one to accept what he's got - he'll always demand more.

He's a new agent with about two, lower league clients. He clearly hears things through others but is also an arrogant bore who won't get any exclusives. Take his info with a pinch of salt.

Yes we'll definitely take a with a pinch of salt until he says something we want to hear ;)

Regardless of whether you think he's being reasonable, excuses go in through on ear and out the other with Conte. Considering how good he is as a coach, i'd say it's fair that he demands the same from all other members of staff including recruitment.

We don't know the conversations that are being had to be fair, but i'd bet Conte would rather we overpaid for Spence and then re-evaluated other cheaper options elsewhere later in the window than not be able to work with a key cog in his side throughout pre-season.

It's only at 50% if there are 8 coming in.

You would think Lenglet will take it above 50% before the weekend so 5/8 isn't bad. This one definitely feels like it could move very quickly though. 6/8 is probably the ideal number Conte would like.

it feels this deal is holding up other things. As it is dependent on our remaining budget and positional options. It must be frustrating that this relatively 'small' transfer fee is causing this level of disruption.

I will reiterate that if this sale was critical to either Spurs or Forest then the battle would be to the top end of Middlesoro s valuation . I am convinced this sale will come in for either club at less than 15 million with realistic addons.. This is fallout from silly lark purchase and having a fire sale to move Dele. Personally I would like to see him come in. But I get Spurs reticence in over spending

We've spent around 50m net so far with at least 60-70m of sellable assets still on the books so I find it hard to believe we'd only be targeting 7 incomings, even more so if you include Lenglet as one of the 7.

We have to also consider the potential that at least one of the youngsters break through this season. So there is that possibility where we have 1 less signing to make. I think attacking midfield looks the most likely with Gil and Devine possible, maybe Parrott could play the central or support forward role. I think defence is the one where we really need to get 2 or 3 in for depth. Even though we do have good cover at right wing back it's just not a natural position for Emerson and Doherty is coming off injury. So if we can get 2 in before the weekend I think that has to be considered a success by Conte.

Of course, would make it even more baffling not to then rush to get Spence done though?? From our perspective the only explanation would be being careful about the fee because there are pieces of the puzzle to fill elsewhere and if there aren't many pieces to fill (ie, Lenglet, Spence and one other player) then we are just value shopping.

He certainly fills a association trained spot for the CL so would make sense to get this one done. I think its just a case of being firm on the fee, I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen.
