When Royal was playing regularly he was decent and proved a lot wrong. Coming in for the odd game here and there he's never gonna get near the levels that Porro gives us.

Losing him and Udogie at the same time killed us against Wolves not because the replacements are bad, but because they aren't as suited to our style and were not up to speed due to lack of playing time. (although never of them are speedy at their peak)

we know Emerson does his level best and is good around the dressing room but….
He would be nowhere near the squads of the other top 6. He is just not good enough, never mind what system you play. Hard to think he is from Brazil.
A bid anywhere near what we paid would be accepted, I have no doubt. As long as Ange is here , Emerson will be lucky to get a game.
The drop off from Porro and Udogie is too big at the moment. How about Skippy at right back. Ange wants them in midfield so play a midfield player there. Skippy is hard working, hard tackling, can pass a ball. Don’t think we would lose much by putting him at right back.

One of our current problems is speed of play and Porro and Udogie see things way before Emerson and Davies. They are both adequate stand ins individually but combined its too much of a drop in tempo. Seems to infect the whole team - 10 Touch FC

It worked ok for Roberto at Barca but I just don't see Skipp having the athleticism for this role in this league. It's similar to why he struggles to replace Sarr who covers so much ground and has a bit of pace about him. Emerson is a funny one as he seems to have a bit of recovery pace but nothing that transfers into attacking play. Everything just slows down with him and I think Skipp would be similar.

Was good yesterday. I would consider starting him against Villa, even if Porro is fit. As he showed against Palace, he is a superior defender. Something we will need against Villa, as the game will be wide open.

Porro tends to leave spaces wide open when we turn the ball over. But Emerson seems to have better recovery pace, which will be needed when coming up against Diaby and Bailey.

Emerson covers RB, CB and even LB to an adequate level, is great behind the scenes and when things weren't going well spent an awful lot of his own money to improve himself. He never complains about not starting or where he plays and will always give 100% for the team. That is exactly the sort of character I want around the team and especially the new younger players coming into the squad.

If it's my choice I would be very reluctant to sell, and the offer would have to be north of £40mil for me to even consider it personally. He's not a £40mil player but players like this are priceless as far as building a squad is concerned.
this got 150 positive ratings

He can't be blamed today.

He shouldn't have been playing at left back in any case let alone against someone like Salah.

It was a pretty disastrous decision by Ange unfortunately.

He did do a reasonable job as an emergency CB, albeit our results weren't good during that time.

Pretty horrible performance, but his manager and teammates didn't exactly help him out.

It was awful but he just plainly doesn't fit what Ange is trying to do so we need to let him go and bring in cover who can fit the role.

What is Ange supposed to do? Stick Udogie out there in crutches? Play VDV or Dragusin in a demanding position they don’t fit and have never played before?

If he’d stuck Skipp out there from the start he’d be getting slaughtered too. This is just wildly unfair

He has done well more often than not and always gives his best when called upon. He should be sold but he should also be appreciated for his time here. He has rarely been played as a right back and required to play like a wing back most of the time. It's just not his position but he's a victim of us going from a back 4 when we signed him to wing backs and now inverted full backs. Left back was always going to be an issue for him especially up against Salah but we have 3 left backs out injured and we had little choice. VDV would struggle at left back against Salah, he's not so great in those tight spaces, far better mopping up in behind instead.
