If we have to eventually off load an attacking player I would much rather Moura be let go.

Lamela is frustrating as hell and has his faults, but he offers something different to all our attacking players.

First goal for us today was quintessential Lamela. He's the only player on the entire pitch, one of the only players in the whole league mind you, that would have closed down all 3 of Bailly, Maguire, and Shaw, prevented De Gea from being able to go claim it, AND put in the tackle that got the ball to ricochet to Ndombele.

His energy and shithousery is incredible.

All summer I’ve had him on my list of players I wouldn’t mind sold and I have to hold my hands up and say I had it wrong and he’s a perfect fit for the club right now.

His natural gift for shithousery on the one hand and Mourinho on the other is like a match made in heaven. Long may it continue.

This is lamelas final form. Best season so far for him

We know its there, just hope he can stay issue free and get a chance to prove his critics wrong.
He consistently demonstrates intensity and passion when he plays.
Best season so far even though only a handful games however I know what you mean!

Whereas one could argue that Martial’s red looked soft - all of those pundits who label Lamela a cheat conveniently overlook the fact that the VAR team did not reverse the ref’s decision.

What bothers me as well is that they all fail to recognize how well we were playing. Its not like we needed that red card to win the game. We sometimes criticize our defence, but Manure’s defence is just a complete mess.

Lamela’s problem has always been he’s never able to get a solid run of games under his belt. He’s been a very good player for us for the last 4 or 5 seasons but unfortunately always injured. Luckily we’re spoilt for choice with our attacking options and can now rotate regularly. Because of this, I hope Lamela picks up less injuries as I genuinely love that bloke playing for us. ?

If only Lamela could lookup when he is running with ball and make the correct decisions on passes, he could have become one of the great PL midfielders...

I hope so too, but I don't know how much difference rotation will make as most of his injuries have happened during training sessions.

Re Lamela's injuries, I am not sure if a lot of them were down to a lack of confidence in his body and perhaps a fragile mental state.

I think now that he appears to be getting more confident, as he has got older, the injuries may cease.

He started 67 PL games in Poch’s first 2 seasons but never more than 25 in a year since. He doesn’t score enough to be a regular starter but he brings attitude and effort every time he steps on the pitch.

These are the same pundits who defended the shocking penalty in the UCL final against us by saying "Rules are the rules". Well, the rules also state that touching an opposing players face is a red card regardless of force.

If it was the other way around they would have been praising it as "gamesmanship". United got a penalty at Villa last season where Bruno went down literally without getting touched. They used to praise Andr Herrera diving around the shop as being smart.

The bias is disgraceful and was badly exposed in both games yesterday evening.

If he can stay relatively injury free this season, and I hope with all the attacking options we have now he’ll get a lot more rested & rotated, he definitely deserves a new contract.
