His agent today said he could join Cardiff City

championship football isnt really for the injury risk adverse, if he just wants to keep up fitness and stroll about until the WC he'd be better of going to PSG, or just cut out the middle man and go to the middle east from now like Toby

That team imo would easily get 100 points in the league. It would unplayable. Throw in eriksen as an option at 10 to help in midfield
But that team didn't exist. If every other team could play a best XI from the last 20 years then we very much wouldn't get 100 points.

Yeah but you're forgetting the fact I've got Pele & Beckenbauer being fed by Maradona and Eusebio.

101 points or Conte gets fired!

I kind of forget that he played for us last season, it was such a shame that the stadiums were empty. I wouldn't be unhappy if we signed him on a 1-2 year deal.

Bale would definitely be in my Spurs PL XI (that's how I justify it being in this thread) ;)

Biggest controversy for me would be Toby and Verts in ahead of King. I just think they are better suited to this 3-4-3 formation. But look at the bench.... if allowed 5 subs I'd still have a problem working out who to put on.

Lloris
Romero---Alderweireld---Vertonghen
Walker-------Dembele---Modric------Ziege
Bale----Kane----Son

Subs: Robinson, Trippier, King, Rose, Carrick, Sandro, Ginola, Teddy, Berbatov, Klinsmann

Probably wrong thread, but Romero has only been here for a season - and injured some of it at that - great player though he looks to be. At this point King has got to get in there on the right side of that three. He had pace to burn and had quality on the ball.

Bringing it back to Bale. It’s perplexing what happened on his return. That front free looks scary in the extreme but they never really got the chance click.

Bale and Modric are the best players to have played for us in the PL era.

Son now is at least on par with Bale circa 2013. We couldn’t hold on to Bale because he hit incredible levels at a young age, 23 years old. Son has matured a little slower, and he’s less valuable at his peak than Bale was as a result of that. Both phenomenal players of course, but let’s not put Bale on a pedestal over our current world class players.

I disagree with that.

As much as Son is a fantastic footballer, he has never performed at the level Bale has in the past.

Bale carried the team by himself that season.

Once in a generation talent and had the ability to be on par with Ronaldo and Messi in my opinion.

If he had have moved to Man Utd or Juventus in 2013, he'd have been the main-man in those teams for 10 years or so.

Fans and the media would look at him differently now if it had have been the case.

It would be VERY Bale to come off the bench when Madrid are desperate and then, out of nowhere, scoring an absurd goal despite being half fit and public enemy no 1 in Madrid.

Not many bigger game players than Bale.

Bale was (and still is) fantastic but even your assessment of him hinges on what he could’ve been not what he actually is/was. He had one truly incredible season (and even in that season scored fewer than Son this year, albeit he scored more exceptional goals). If Son was 23 now, I promise you the Real Madrids of the world would be salivating over him in much the same way they were over Bale 9 years ago.
