You should never make a judgement on a player based on international football; that goes for both good and bad performances. It's pretty useless as an indicator of ability as there aren't that many similarities with club football.

Case in point: Poborsky. One good chip.

Just based on that match tonight i see far too much of lamela in him. I hope i am wrong

Far too much Lamela in him? Lo Celso is a different level to Lamela its chalk and cheese based on pretty much every element of their game.

Lamela isn't a bad player and whilst his injuries haven't helped him he never lived up to what I'd hoped of him. Lo Celso is someone who would probably start most games compared to the cameo role we will get from Erik. I don't think Lo Celso is worth anywhere near the money being touted but he will definitely add real benefits to the team and is still young enough to develop further.

Fans were going crazy and booed him very loudly when he went to collect his medal . He ruined the game and cost me the chance to see Messi up close
That sucks dude. Although you could look at it and say you were at one of the two matches the GOAT was sent off?

Lamela never made it to what was predicted. Only useful at the press but promised so much more.

I agree in his first few seasons he didn’t deliver but the last two seasons, especially more recently he stepped up and scored more. Then he was plagued with injuries again which didn’t help

Think it was the off-season before last that I thought he was primed for a breakout. He looked sooooo good in the preseason matches.

From what I saw he was playing out of position, when he was further forward he looked dangerous.

Eriksen replacement, but could take a while to settle in, it would be nice to have one more season of eriksen while he beds in to the team.

He is a shifty little guy that has absolutely no problem kicking the s**t out of you, while also making you look like a fool with his dribbling. I think he will fit the EPL perfectly.
I think you're absolutely right.

First time I've really seen him and I watched his movement very closely.

Think he will be a superb addition. Very classy player and was always looking for space and moving the ball along. He'll cope very well under pressure with the ball and he's quite tenacious which is important.

On the defensive aspect, he frequently dropped in to cover if needed and followed runners into his zone. I think he'll have no problems adjusting to Poch's defensive demands. I couldn't really see the reckless challenge as I was behind the other goal but he did go to ground on a couple of occasions when it wasn't necessary.

The assist and a few other attacking moments showed evidence of his ability to pick out a pass and get the attacker in. I think he'd be the perfect replacement for Eriksen and is a lot more comfortable when having the ball when defenders are pressing him. It'll be interesting to see how Poch deploys him but his willingness to get stuck in will hold him in good stead.

Foyth was very disciplined defensively and was impressive. A few moments where he overran the ball or took a heavy touch which put him in trouble, once he cuts thaf out we'll have a he'll of a player. Another interesting thing was at the end of the game when all the players were talking to each other, Foyth spent that time talking to a coach and a guy in a suit (Argie rep) which I think highlights his maturity and willingness to improve.

Dybala was incredible!

Yeah it sucks and because I was far away we had no idea why he'd been sent off. I did see his lovely assist too.

I completely agree. I haven’t watched him much but I assumed he was deployed further forward for Betis and that’s where he made a real impact with his goals.

For Argentina he’s been played a good but deeper. I watched the match vs Chile and it looked like he played on the left of a midfield three. He for sure did drop in and support the full backs. One thing Eriksen did a lot. He tracked back and put a shift in. I think he’ll settle in quickly but long term, what’s his position gonna be?

Far too much of Lamela? When he plays he has made a decent impact. The only downside to Lamela is his injury record.
Agree....I’m amazed at how quickly many of us have forgotten how good Lamela was when he was healthy and in form. His runs of good form are far better than anything I’ve seen of Lo Celso so far. That’s not to say that the latter won’t develop into a better player than Lamela, even at his best, but there seems to be an understandable bias against Lamela due to his injuries and in favor of the promise of a new transfer.
