I'd prefer if we could figure out a way to use our big new signings in games that have at least some significance. But hey maybe thats too much to ask.

Indeed but all we can do is trust the judgement of our eminently experienced and successful manager with this one.

Expecting anyone to prove a point and earn a place in a match that is essentially a glorified friendly is pointless. It's going to be played at snails pace with both teams not wanting to suffer injuries and putting out youth teams. Celso won't gain anything from it apart from fitness. Personally I think Jose doesn't particularly rate him and would be happy to send him back in favour of a player of his choosing. Hopefully he gets a chance, but it's crazy how little have seen of him since Jose came in.

He seems like an itsy bitsy player and does'nt fit into the new managers plans.

Or could be a case of redirecting funds at the managers request.

I really hope that's not the case and that he won't ostracize Argentinians who were loyal to Pochettino. But if he sees Alli as CAM, rates Moura and even Sissoko at RW, plus he's experimenting with Sessegnon there then there doesn't seem to be much place for GLC. He doesn't like playing in CM position and one is reserved for a DM and other for Ndombele if he can improve his fitness. He would probably need Alli getting injured to get some minutes and even then Mourinho seems to prefer Eriksen. Best case scenario he gets couple of starts instead of Moura and he will need to impress quickly.

I’m not overly worried. The game was wrapped up and it was an opportunity to give three teenagers a runout. If he doesn’t start against Bayern or gets very little playing time over the festive period it will be cause for concern, but I’d be surprised to see that happen.

Itsy Bitsy? How much of him have you seen?

It certainly looks like Jose doesn’t fancy him.

agree, had it been 2-0 rather than 5-0 then lo celso would've been on ahead of sess/skipp/parrott.

I think all the Argentinians are finished now

Lo celso and foyth gonners
Lamela done - if he ever recovers
Gazzaniga new keeper in the summer likely, maybe he'll stick around if Hugo goes

I hope not especially regarding Foyth and Lo Celso. It’s interesting that we’ve been heavily linked with Bruno and Ruben Dias since Jose has arrived. From Argentina to Portugal.

Foyth, I believe he can make it at Spurs if he desires too. I wouldn't exactly rush to put him in he starting line up, he has long ways to go, but I don't see any objective reasons why he is clearly on his way out. He is also very young, and for any club at the same level he would have to assume a similar position of having a long term perspective.

It genuinely feels premature to be writing anyone off under Mourinho. When he first came in he was looking to instill some stability and played teams full of players who knew each other, and there was scant rotation. We then went away to Old Trafford where he was hardly going to chuck in players who'd barely played this season. Then today we were 5-0 up before he made the first substitution, which lends itself to letting the teenagers get their feet wet.

We've got some real fixture congestion on the horizon. If the likes of GLC, Foyth, Sessegnon, KWP and others don't play much over the next month, it will be time to wonder whether they're in Jose's plans. But jumping to conclusions after five matches in charge, when it's easily understandable why he might have played the players he did under the circumstances, truly feels premature to me.

Right wing/forward: Moura, Sissoko, Lamela, Sessegnon
AMC: Dele, Eriksen, Lamela maybe
Even when Eriksen and Lamela go next summer he still won't start over Dele and I don't think Mourinho wants to spend that money on a sub, one that he probably doesn't even rate that much. Surprising since he likes goalscoring midfielders and he scored 16 for Betis (5 goals, 1 assist in Europa league) but Dele is better and Jose likes him. Lo Celso himself doesn't like playing at CM position and he isn't that good there so not much space for him sadly. He is also too good not to start every game.
