Would love to read his future autobiography to find out what on earth happened during his time here.
I don’t think it’s any particular big mystery, he was bought for an attacking system then we brought in 3 consecutive managers who play a defensive system that he doesn’t particularly suit. That plus numerous small injuries. Even under Ange if he didn’t get injured at Fulham he probably would have featured more by this point.

I have seen enough of him throughout his career to know he’s a talented footballer. Not only that you can see how highly those in the Argentinian squad rate him, including Messi. It’s a shame that he will probably not get a proper run of games under Ange with good players around him but such is football. Realistically, regardless if I rate him or not, he has to leave in Jan as if he can’t get starts with Maddison out there is absolutely no point keeping him.

He’s a much better player than a lot of people realise. Put him in a second string team where we don’t get a foothold in the game and like anyone else he’s going to struggle. He needs a chance in this Ange era team with better players around him. good players need other good players to really play, especially in his position.

Yep with so many changes splitting the Bissouma/Sarr midfield was a mistake, should have retained that axis and simply slotted GLC in for Maddison.
This is so simple yet astute yet mentioned so little

Biss - Sarr built a very good understanding and almost instinctively know what to do with and without the ball

You can tell that Biss is a little half arsed when he gives the ball to PEH or when PEH is in the middle and receives the ball (where Biss prefers to receive)

No reason that can't happen once the back 4 is sorted out a bit. People seem to think he's weak defensively but he's not. He did really well when he got a run of games under Mourinho.

He’s a dam sight better than hojberg defensively, made some great tackles yesterday

I don't see that Ange has much of a choice tbh after the midfield rubbish on display yesterday. He has to play him, for good or ill.

Yeah this idea that Hojbjerg is more physical and makes us stronger defensively is not what I see. People run off the back of him all the time and he pulls out of a lot of 50/50s. He doesn’t get around the pitch quickly either. Maybe image/histrionics counts for a lot

I don’t disagree at all and he is very good defensively, it’s why he sometimes played DM for PSG. But if PEH, who we were and probably are still looking to sell, is getting starts ahead of Gio when Maddison is injured there’s not much point in keeping him around even tho I think he’d actually be good for us in this system. I’m hoping that after the break he starts against Villa but I just don’t see it.

Agree...been saying this for ages.. He is not difficult to get away from due to a lack of mobility and dynamism. Hojbjerg's natural inclination is to stand off imo so not to get turned/exposed and prefers a more sitting type role rather than being asked to press aggressively and generally be on the front foot. Hence not really a fit in Postecoglou's team.

Got a few minutes late on last night, but wasn't able to improve a dire performance, although was tidy in his few touches. Will be interesting to see if Scaloni makes changes in midfield for Brazil as both Enzo and Macallister were poor.

Apparently his missus has had / is having a baby, they want to stay in London for the pregnancy rather than move clubs, and Gio has signalled he is willing to knuckle down as a happy squad player to allow this to happen...?
is this a question or a statement?

Sorry, I find this mad; he simply isn’t. I know absence makes a footballer better but Lo Celso has had four years to make an impression and he’s offered far less to us than Hojbjerg has.

Loaning him would make zero sense and I really hope we don't get tempted by some sort of Raphinha swap deal.

Barça will try to make up for Gavi 's loss in the next winter market as long as the fortunate financial 'fair play' allows it . Even from the coaching staff, it is already a priority to reinforce the midfield before the arrival of Vitor Roque , a player tied up but who could arrive without problems in June.

Barcelona will not sign for the sake of signing, but there is a player who perfectly fits the profile they would be looking for. This is Giovani Lo Celso (27 years old). The Argentine midfielder was already an option in the summer because Xavi and his coaching staff really like him, but in the end he stayed at Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou, Spurs coach, made him feel important in preseason, but it is true that his role has been much less once the course started, also because a thigh injury sidelined him practically the entire month of September.

So far, Lo Celso , Argentine international, has participated in 4 official matches, only playing 83' in a Tottenham team that started the season very well. That is why Barça see him as a fantastic alternative to Gavi 's untimely loss .

The ideal, also for 'fair play' aspects, would be a loan. The player would have the minutes that he does not have in London and for his current club it would be a good option for him to revalue himself at Barça . Furthermore, it is worth remembering that the man from Rosario knows the league well because he played for both Villarreal and Betis.

Beyond Tottenham, Lo Celso continues to be a fixture in the Argentine national team. He is not a starter with Scaloni, but in the last few games he has always come off the bench.

Gio is a player that they have been following from the Ciudad Deportiva for months. It was one of the names that fit the robot portrait ( 😂 ) that Xavi requested for the interior, in addition to Gündogan. He knows how to play well between the lines, he has a final pass and a good finish. In the end, the midfielder that the coach wanted did not arrive, although now, with Gavi's absence, the possibility of reactivating it opens up. And Lo Celso is still there.
