Per Ali Gold from today's training session:

Lo Celso on fire

One player who could not stop scoring during the practice match and drills during Saturday's session was Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentina international, who scored against West Ham on Tuesday night, was firing efforts into the net from everywhere during the session.

It is yet to be seen whether the 27-year-old will be a part of Postecoglou's plans for the coming season but there's no doubt he's got quality in his technique and he was sending some beautiful volleys and half-volleys past the helpless goalkeepers throughout the session.
If one of him and NDombele lives up to potential we'll have won the lottery.

Okay, if Gio wants to stay and is fully committed then he can replace PEH if and when Pierre leaves. Save the money to replace him and put it on bringing in BOTH Tapsoba and VDV

Original article: https://www.muchodeporte.com/real-b...r-del-tottenham-le-ha-convencido-para-seguir/

Lo Celso's option is complicated because the new Tottenham coach has convinced him to continue

A clear objective, although it is expected and expected to try to finish it off late, as Gio Lo Celso (27 years old) has become more complicated than it already was due to its cost and because he left Betis for Tottenham and the English team is not very supporter of, if necessary, make a fool of himself by giving up a player who cost a good penny (more than 40 million in total) to the team that sold him.

But now it's a minor issue. The player's desire has not changed, to return to the place where he truly became an elite, playing 45 games in one year with 16 goals and 6 assists. An atrocity. That intention, for which he speaks with club employees with whom he maintains a permanent connection, has not changed . But a relevant part of all this has changed: the new Spurs coach, the Australian Ange Postecoglou, is delighted with the player in the preseason, he fits him into his game and, to top it off, Lo Celso himself, who hardly he talks to Daniel Levy, the owner of Tottenham, he feels comfortable both with the manager and with the style of play. He wants this to say that the Argentine is not going to force the machine to leave, not even to Betis. It has nothing to do with the fact that he scored a goal in the first friendly on the Asian tour, it's that he really has fun and counts for the coach in each work session.

Lo Celso has a contract with Tottenham until 2025, earns a very good salary, above Betis's highest paid, which is Fekir, and although he believed that after five years in England (although two on loan at Villarreal) he had already given up. Your stay in the British Isles now changes the landscape .
However, Lo Celso is one more wish on the part of the sports committee that we can consider a club, especially José Miguel López Catalán, because Manuel Pellegrini insists on Fornals, whom he already had at West Ham . The transfer of this player would exceed 20 million.

On Tuesday, Ramón Planes, Betis sports director, commented when asked about the Argentine international (not world champion due to an untimely injury). that "Betis is in a process of growth and within our new objectives is growth. That is achieved by incorporating good players and Lo Celso is one of them . In preseason I met Álex Moreno and he told me "hey, I want to go back , eh"… Lo Celso does not play now, he is a player of a high level, but I have said it, we have to be attentive to any possibility . If his option appears or any other from a good player, we have to be attentive. It is a moment premature to talk about it", pointed out Planes, who must have known something about this possibility.

That's big news. Very encouraging.
Yeah, seems like we're gradually crossing off some uncertainties. Seems like Kane, Tanguy, Rodon, Tanganga, Sanchez and PEH leaving. Nothing to indicate Dier, Reguilon, Perisic, Bryan, Spence are off yet. To me it points to one forward and a LCB brought in, and Dier and Davies being the back ups.

This is fantastic news if true. I know there were/are a number who want him gone but I always thought he would excel in the right system and Ange’s system is that system. If he wants to stay and is motivated he will excel. The only question mark will remain around his injury issues.

If he can nail down and get to grips with the English game then it definitely solves a problem for us. I think we'd all be relieved if he and Ndombele, or even one of them, came good in the end.

But like the full article says, if he still wants to leave, then nothing will change with his performances.

If he truly has now committed himself to playing for Spurs and gives his all then that's great because he is a very talented player. I'll believe it when I see it though.

I think I’ve seen him smile more in the last few days than I have in the last three seasons at Spurs. What a difference an attacking positive manager makes.

How can you tell that from a photo done for the official Twitter feed? I don't think we should take any notice of the PR coming from the club.

The system is absolutely perfect for him.

Midfield options of Bissouma, Skipp, Maddison, Bentancour, Lo Celso and Sarr should be more than enough.

Sell Holjberg because he wants to go , loan N'dombele as I bet nobody would buy him and give White and Devine loans to develop

Then with the Holjberg money there is absolutely no excuse not to buy two top defenders.

Easy to overlook that Hojbjerg has been absolutely bulletproof since we've had him and that saved us last season. None of the others are.

Omg yes please be true!!!!

Have said for ages that he's an absolute player in a possession based creative attacking system he looked lost under Jose because of the style of play completely didn't suit him and he was in and out of the team. The few games under Mason in an attacking 4-2-3-1 he looked good again.

So pleased to hear this, he's a top player and a joy to watch.

Having him and Maddison to unlock teams will be dreamy.

Ange loves having multiple goal and creativity threats so thought he'd like GLC, just wasn't sure GLC could be convinced to stay or not.

The system suits him, I think most of us expected it to, just didn't know whether or not he'd want to stick around. If he is willing to make it work then lets get on with it.

Keep him. He fits with Ange's style of play perfectly, it's very similar to Argentina's short passing game.
