Has anyone else noticed that Lucas Moura never takes the knee before matches? It's just a half-hearted mini-squat. I know that he's got pretty questionable political opinons because of his support for President Bolsonaro.
Maybe he has bad knees.

He worked hard vs Brighton but was having one of his off days on the ball. Seems he benefits from a run of games.

I was going to say it’s probably not a good position for a footballer. Lucas I remember in the Amazon series always stretched out his hamstrings on the floor in the dressing room while Mou was talking.

I think Saha is right that bending the knee isnt the right gesture tbh and comes from that peculiar American practice of playing the national anthem every game. Better to hold up fists Black Panther style or something.

Look at the ball he put in, look at his skillset. The man is primed for the RWB transformation

I'd love to see it given a go even for half an hour.

It would enable us to keep him on the pitch with Son and Kane without being in the same space all the time or getting sucked into the middle.

3-5-2 with him in that position sounds like a great option.

Lucas wasnt having his best game yesterday yet still contributed heavily to the two goals.

I love the guy and he is being effective at the moment

Whilst I dont want him at RWB (think he is doing enough up front), given he is great in the air, he has stamina, pace, decent crossing - he must be our RWB. That way you can perhaps play Kulu in front of him and overlapping runs etc. Romero being on the right of the defence will help with covering.

Good effort last night and played some cute passes / links. I do expect more from him but only because we know how good he can be. I still love him. Always give it 100%.

Yh, I just think we wouldn't lose all that much defensively, we'd gain more in the middle and that right side area would have a player with the skillset in an attacking sense to smash it.

A shame to hear that. It's a total assumption but Christianity is very important to Lucas, and Bolsonaro, as right populists do, has gone hard to appeal conservative Christian values. I won't hold it against him as Lucas seems like a very genuine, nice guy.

Bolsonaro makes Trump look pretty sane. He's a loon.

True. A lot of genuine good Brazilian people got taken in by Bolsonaro, but his support is draining away, I'd imagine Lucas feels differently now- I don't know.

It just makes sense. I posit that it would be easier to instill defensive discipline in Lucas's game vs improving both Royal's and Doherty's technical and attack proficiency.

he already wins a ridiculous amount of defensive headers at corners and he is a very disciplined team player. I don't see it being a problem for him to defend.

The most annoying part about this whole RWB situation is that Conte has form when it comes to turning wingers into really effective fullbacks in his system (Young, Moses) but somehow doesn't see Lucas as an option for that role. Baffling.

He's aging(30 this year) , and times is running out on him. Replace! I don't care if he has the running ability of a cheetah, and yells COYSCOYSCOYS all the time. All I want is a better player alongside Kane.
FFS we cannot live on his Semi-Final masterclass forever.

From player of the season to thrown out with the trash in two pages.

And we expect loyalty from our players?
