Watched those highlights.

How charming that that French attacker punted down the line and tried to beat him for pace. I’m guessing he won’t try that again…

You just don’t beat the guy in a foot race

In a very short space of time he's jumped ahead of Botman who's yet to make his debut but is more experienced.

The Dutch back line has a lot of competition but he's definitely third for me behind VVD and Ake, ahead of Botman and de Vrij but probably level with Deligt on current form. The problem is that the those two are also LCB (at least I think VVD is) so the balance isn't quite there

Ake has never stood out to me. Is he first choice for City when all their defenders are fit?

Where’s De Ligt in the Netherlands pecking order?

Having a player like that on your team is immense. Just look at the clap he gets from VVD in the middle when he eats up that ground in front of Gusto
Yeah, he is an immense talent only 22. I said in the summer I'd rather VDV than Tapsoba. Watched an interview, He didn't come up through one of the big academies in Holland he was at Vollendam but he got noticed in his first season by one of the bigger clubs he didn't leave because Wim Jonk was the manager and he knew he would learn more from him staying another season than going to a bigger club. Just got the right attitude

Oh and we're fucked if he gets injured

Another cap (against Greece). Came on for Hartman. Didn't see the match but possibly Ake was shifted to LB and VDV slotted into Ake's place. Saying that, we're dealing with Koeman here who managerially couldn't run a bath, let alone a team.

Love this so much. Can see how dialled in he is in watching the guy's body shape, and the exact millisecond he closes up to knock it on rather than cut inside, the afterburners go on and he changes the direction of his run. Old mate matches him stride for stride it looks like, but Mickey's legs are so long he's giving Jessica Rabbit a run for her money.

And target man with the way he sorted his feet out for the goal.
"Van de Ven makes a run down the left, he goes past the defence like they arent there, cuts it back to Van de Ven, brilliant cross into the back post to Van de Ven to head a sensational goal"
