Townsend to Sissoko is one of the more obscure comparisons I've seen on here...
Why? They both play/played predominantly RMF.
Completely different style of play. One's an inverted winger, one's a strong wide-man.
That may be so, but I don't see the difference if one's an apple and the other an orange - neither seem to contribute (yet) significantly to our style of play.Completely different style of play. One's an inverted winger, one's a strong wide-man.

I thought Sissoko was distinctly average yesterday but am confident this is all "bedding in" time into our system and we will see the his best later in the season.
I think average is harsh. Decent debut - worked hard, couple of chances, one being the shot that went just wide. A few decent crosses put in. He did OK.I thought Sissoko was distinctly average yesterday but am confident this is all "bedding in" time into our system and we will see the his best later in the season.
Fair enough. I think I'm letting the price tag interfere with my assessment. Not his fault, but (like Lamela) I think I was expecting some Euro's type form.I think average is harsh. Seems a strange signing when you compare him to Townsend. They are both quick and direct. They both have questionable end product but I'd say Townsend was more of a goal threat in spite of his 'row Z' tag. Sissoko probably better at tracking back (not difficult compared to Townsend) and has a great engine for 90 mins. But then you chuck in the relative transfer fees and I'm utterly confused.
Sissoko started his first game- played out his first 90min at his new club. I dont know how can anyone pass judgement on him in 1 game. We got to give him the time to develop.
I personally thought he offered something yesterday that no one else in our squad can (unless we play Dembele out of position). Pace and power as a wide-forward. He's a stronger, quicker upgrade on Chadli.
why can't his previous four years in england factor into our judgment? it's not like he's been plucked from relative obscurity like nkoudou.
I think he'll be a huge asset for us once he fully settles down.
Pretty decent debut, I really liked his work ethic and attitude yesterday.
