Yeah, because comparable points tallies is the most important thing.

I've seen this thrown up a few times of late and it really is such a pointless thing to say because it's missing so many aspects of where we now are as a team.
Fuck Conte.

Like I said above, it was tongue in cheek aka a joke. It’s all about perspective.

I’m acutely aware of the differences, but you last line just comes off as bitter. You might want to let that resentment go.

Really need Bentancur back to fill one of the midfield spots during this time.
💯 especially with Biss & Son away also our overall midfield and attacking option depth will be much less.

I think we need to consider a 6 month loan for a CM depending on how we look end of Dec.

The same number of points.

And we had the best striker in the world at the club.

And one point from games against the top teams.

I understand the comparison, but it doesn't paint Conte in the light you think it does IMO.

Its a stupid comparison though. Even echoing all what's been said in response to this....

Had we not suffered one of the most significant injury/suspension crisis all at one we'd be 8-10 points better off than we are in all probability.

I said similar in the Ange thread earlier, we’d probably be top if we didn’t suffer a drastic change in fortunes in the space of 90 mins.

My comment has been taken way out of proportion, I was in no way insinuating that we were just as good last season.

It was more of a weak response to a weak narrative regarding the old tactics, nothing more.

Oh piss off.
I couldn't care less about Conte anymore, I'm just sick of people still going on about him in every bloody thread.
If you want to perceive that as me being bitter, you crack on with your childish digs pal.

I don't think we'll look to bring in players for a short-term fix during the international tournaments, instead it will depend on our long-term squad building and whether we can sell the likes of PEH and perhaps Lo Celso in January before we can reallocate their squad places to new players.

But if we could find player(s) we want long-term on a Paratici-special-loan-before-buy-deal, then I'd be delighted if we can repeat our Jan window a couple years ago in unearthing the next Bentancur and Kulusevski.

Actually you're probably right mate a long term loan with buy option for a player we want in that position would make more sense.

In which case that type of deal for a CB, CM and attacking player ideally all 3 in Jan would be fantastic but as this is the Sarr thread that type of deal for a CM specifically would be good because I think our results will suffer if we have to play both of Skipp and PEH in the middle which we will do if Bentancur and/or Maddison aren't back until Feb.

The fact that you had such an emotional response says everything really. Calling me childish? Pot and Kettle mate.

PS. He is brought up in comparison to EVERYTHING we do all the time, I’m going to make a joke when I see one. If you’re not happy with that, keep scrolling pal. It’s not that deep.

Believe this guy has the potential to be an absolute monster in midfield for us. He is a awkward guy to do battle with and it's going to be even more of a problem with his physical strength increasing over time. Yesterday were a couple of occasions where he was mixing it up with Joelinton, someone who really bosses the midfield area for Newcastle and Sarr more than held his own for a guy who is still only 21. Also looks to have more confidence now he has got regular game time.

Has that knack of almost looking like he is strolling away from players when he drives for ward with the ball. Really could be a scarily good all round midfielder player that will be a nightmare to play against,

Obvs hate comparing to a former great for our rivals but his box to box style and technique and positioning etc all remind me quite a bit of Patrick Vieria, although Pape is much sweeter and doesn't have that nasty streak in him but otherwise quite similar profiles of players.

As @Joely has said at 21 his potential to be an absolute monster of a player for us for many years to come is very exciting.

Did that come across as an emotional response? Blimey.

And maybe next time you make a "joke" you could let us know because it seems I wasn't the only one to miss the humour.

Came across this little montage of Pape from yesterday -

So so so good

our right hand side improved tremendously with his return

it’s like when Bentacur was back for that 20 mins against Villa, you can tell immediately that we are much much better

like someone said previously, forget Connor Gallagher, he’s just an overrated Sarr (who is homegrown too next season 🤩)
