It's quite funny to think that there is a very good chance that the Danny's big buy this summer will be PEH. Chelsea's next buy:
Remember when they were in big trouble according to high level intel and we were going to cruise past them?
Be that as it may... the pressure will be on Fat Frank next season... in particular if they spend over 250M over the summer. Expectations will be huge, and I'm not sure he's all that as a manager. Time will tell I guess.

That said, I have to believe that there's a creative way to strengthen our side that doesn't involve handing out 70M+ for every single transfer. For every Werner and Haevertz that's gonna be players like Hojbjerg and Willian who can be snatched up without paying more than 15M. And I doubt that the aforementioned Germans are heads and shoulders better than two PL-tested players.

This is just a way to try and comfort yourself to be honest. Make no mistake about it, even if the defence needed work, if we signed Ziyech, Werner and Havertz I'd be absolutely ecstatic. It's not like they'll neglect their defence forever.

Do Saints want to keep hold of Walker-Peters ? That might make the difference

Absolutely. They’re being very proactive and it’ll pay dividends in a year or two

I wouldn’t be so sure. Havertz is good in a mid table side here in Germany. Werner is the focal point of RB Leipzig and could be flattering to deceive. Ziyech, I think he’s a bit overrated but could look good against average sides. The salary demands of these guys will be huge, and if they don’t succeed it’s a big gamble.

The chap from Southampton could be a bargain, is underrated and won’t want a kings ransom in fees or salary.

We were ecstatic when we signed Ndombele.
United were ecstatic when they signed Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic.
Arsenal when they signed Pepe.
etc etc

I could probably find countless examples of teams who looked to have brought in big quality players.

Now the likelihood is that they come in and do great for Chelsea but there is also a chance that Havertz struggles as a young player adapting to a new country and less time/more physicality and Ziyech proves to be a downgrade on Willian.

I do think Werner is overrated and line him up against Son and Kane, it's a no contest for me.

Considering the attacking players they already have and that they are hardly struggling for goals, and the fact they are absolutely pish as the back, you'd have thought they'd have thought about investing there first or instead of Ziyech at least.

Chelsea will always have money, they'll always spend outrageous amounts on players but they've got signings badly wrong in the past.

Massive pressure on Lampard now, if he can't fix that defence, it won't matter how many goals they score, theyll continue to lose bad games.

Pretty confident this will come off but I don't like how aggressively Everton are pursuing him.

Also, what message does is send to Abraham, Hudson Odoi and Mount?

It's good to have back up but how do you fit both Mount and Havertz in the same team with a front 3 of Werner Pulisic and Ziyech?

Could really stunt his growth. Would make Lampard a bit of a hypocrite.

I'm not saying they'll definitely be massive successes, I'm just saying they're very positive moves for the club regardless and their fans have every right to be overly-excited by the signings, even with that defence of theirs.

Who cares when you're signing players of that quality.

If he wants to come here and a part-exchange deal for KWP is on the cards, I just don't see how Everton win this race without offering stupid money.

Unfortunately Everton are also the most likely club in the league to do exactly that.

Very valid point. I don't massively rate Rudiger. And their fullbacks are getting long in the teeth. Kepa ain't all that. And their midfield seems to be a smidge inconsistent. One min they're dominant, next they are getting overrun. So, if they are planning on winning games 5-3, 4-3, 3-2 each game, then they're got the right players in mind. I had forgotten about Ziyech too. Not to mention, I'm sure they will find a like-for-like replacement for Giroud.

That all being said, I'm guessing they're not done with their spending. As mentioned previously, they will fork out another 100M at least on their defense me reckons.

They can offer Rooney's petrified taint for all I care... the bottom line is that the player needs to accept their offer. If his head is set on joining us, then we are in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations. Not that that is a sure-fire signal of us pulling this off. We all know too well, our bald eagle's penchant for bargaining deals into oblivion.
