Getting 40 million for him would be superb business. I like him and actually think he’s a very good player, but if we are rebuilding then having 40 million to reinvest in players better suited to the new manager/ethos would be a huge bonus.

KInd've surprised he's willing to move.

Anyway if both parties are happy and we get a decent price well we should definitely sell.

Probably likes the idea of Atletico Madrid if they're one of the interested clubs.

Two years left of his deal and about to turn 28. He still has a decent level market value as well.

You really don't want any player who retains value to run down to their last year of contract so we've got to decide whether we see him as a long term member of Ange's iteration of Spurs or we have to try and extract good value to get a player who is more suitable.

I'm pretty confident Hojbjerg could play fast, technical football to a decent level and so if he was younger or had longer on his contract I'd keep him around for at least a season as we have more pressing issues. At the same time I don't think he would excel in any other roles or requirements of what we want to be doing so on balance I'd probably move him on if a decent offer comes in.

A midfielder who has been ever present in a big six premier league side for the past few years, has leadership qualities, never injured, loved by Mourinho and Conte with two years left.

I'd say easily 40 million.you may not rate him but look at the facts and that's the going rate.

Surprised west ham aren't in for him to be honest.

We ain't getting 40m but that's a good negotiating position to start at.

If he goes surely the fee is closer to 30m unless Atletico are very keen as they're one of the new continental clubs that does still spend big.

Ange must be happy to move him on.

It isnt really a surprise, from all we have heard about Ange, Hojbjerg doesnt seem like his type. Right time for everyone for him to move on though, no acrimony from me. Xhaka the guide for price I would think and he is going for in the 20s.

I think O'Keefe specified 40m euros not pounds, so circa £35m. Can imagine a deal being agreed somewhere in the region of £25m to £30m which would be really solid business.

When you think Fulham want 90 million for Paulhinia, a very good player but over double Holjberg? Not for me.

He has four years left on his contract vs Hojbjerg's two but regardless, them wanting it and them getting it are two very different things. They can value him at whatever they want, there's no way in hell they're getting anything even remotely close to 90m for him. At that price you're going in for Caicedo who is a superior player and far younger.

Exactly, it's futile comparing fees because the circumstances are tangibly different - none more so than Fulham want to keep their asset as opposed to us who are open to interest.

Hope any protracted transfer for Hojbjerg can be concluded fairly swiftly though.

£40m for Hojbjerg is dark arts transfer business.

We have had some nice moments from hojbjerg - notably the marseille away goal - but can't help but think that his time at Tottenham has coincided with mostly an unhappy time for the club - Covid, Mourinho, NES, Conte ups and downs and implosion.

Given Ange apparently wants to start everyone with a clean slate and Hojbjerg hasn't been back yet I'm taking this as him wanting to move on rather than being moved on, same with Winks and Perisic too. To be fair to him it's hardly been the most positive and productive 3 seasons, he may he just as frustrated as we've all been!

Will be interesting to see who we’d bring in if we did sell Hojbjerg.

With the AFCON mid season and us losing Bissouma and Sarr to it, would leave us extremely thin on the ground.

I had assumed a new 8, but depending if Ange sees Biss as the 6 or an 8, and also depending on how he rates Skipp, we could see a new 6 brought in. Especially as Bissouma, you’d imagine, would be excellent in one of the 8’s as well.
