Thing is how we play now it doesn't matter how isolated the Holding mid is, the ball is past them in seconds regardless of whether it's a two or three. VDV and Romero either deal with it or they don't. Where that deeper mid makes the biggest difference is when we play out. Bis is more comfortable taking the ball under pressure and playing out one or two touch. for me PEH on the other hand is better when we are camped in the oppositions half and able to play forward. I don't think either are ideal for how we are set up personally and we need a player who is more a combination of the two.
PEH certainly needs more time and space than Biss to thrive. But PEH is much more interested in moving the ball on quickly than Biss, who seems to want to control the game through moving with the ball. I call it "casual" but maybe he genuinely feels he's calming things down and directing the flow. Either way, neither he nor Bents are naturals for the one touch progression that Ange wants in midfield.

Ange has stated that long term team development is much more important than immediate results and CL qualification therefore I'm not sure why PEH is playing if he's not going to stay - unless it's just to piss Bissouma, Bentancur et al off and make them work harder to improve their form.

Hope this is the last we see of him in a spurs shirt. Own goal and hiding behind their players when we're playing out.

Embodies everything that was bad from the mourinho and conte era. Lost a bit of respect for Ange starting him today. Massive mistake.

I expect this was his last 45. Can't stand watching Bissouma, but what was that. The OG was genuinely a class attacking header. Where else was that going to hit but the net? He then doesn't track the runners for Saka's goal, not that he needed the runner with our generous defence.

Honestly cannot stand these passion merchants. Probably was in all the managers ears as to how much of a warrior he is and slagging off his competition. Let us down big time today

Give it a couple of weeks people will be calling for him to start again or saying we should keep him next year. I’ll say, it’s impressive how he manages to convince people in here. Bisoumma gets abuse for a lot better performances than that. He’s lazier off the ball than Bisoumma but he’s got the persona where people don’t want to see it.

I think people subconsciously don’t rate Biss v PEH as he is just a bit flashier personality wise. Lot of pwopa football men don’t like that kind of person and prefer pwopa warriors for fark sakes.

The second goal, I think he’s level or close with Saka when the ball breaks down, then just stops. that was Bisoumma they’d be 20 posts about it. PEH no one’s even noticed it. Bit odd. Second half he was stationary around the edge of our penalty box for long periods. Zero mobility getting to people or closing gaps. really hope that is the last we see of him in this team.

GLC more technical, more mobile, more tenacious, can dribble and has a good passing range. Like Holberg, contract going to expire.

But sure start Holberg over GLC...what a manager..
Jesus wept.

One is an attacking midfielder, the other is a defensive midfielder. He didn’t pick one over the other.

I said from very early rhis season that Ange can't really be relying on players like Hojjbjerg to play his system week in week out.

Ange has been unfortunate that Bissouma just hasn't got back into it and Bentancur isn't the same after hos injury.

Sarr is still young so is going to go through these patches.

So Ange has to rely on players who don't fit once more (Davies too).

This is why I think it's really harsh to judge Ange yet.

He still is working with players we know won't be here in his plans.

I think we all thought we'd lucked out with that team earlier in the season buy its clear that it's still not close and players like Hojbjerg having to be used show that.

Agree. Still think Ange is finding out a lot about these players. Keeper and defence aside, think there's still question marks in a number of other positions. If you asked him to name his strongest side not sure he'd be able to with any degree of confidence. Even if he was able to, still can't get away from guessing he'd feel he'd still be shoehorning players into roles that maybe they are nor particularly suited to.

hope this will finally stop any faint murmurs that PEH should start
No doubt he's gone in the next window. Think getting him sold will be a priority. As will back up full backs and a top winger/striker.

As the season has gone on we've son continue to fade. Long term replacement with goals from the wing needed.
