Id actually pick him over Todibo. I have a feeling he is going to be a VDV type signing where we sign plan B but they are amazing anyway.
From what I've seen and read I'd disagree on that same level as VdV. Players like VdV, Maddison, Grealish that one summer, Kane when he was here etc had pretty much every supporter saying that they were top class players with barely anything negative about them, if anything at all. It was always "you think I'm exaggerating but he's one of the best I've seen in a long time and if you watched him week in, week out you'd know that" level. Even supporters from the league like Italians for Vicario were all saying how good he was. I've yet to see that for this guy, whereas for Todibo it seems more positive from those that follow Ligue 1 and from Nice supporters that overall he's a very good player

It's not a perfect metric like players in different systems can excel/be stifled like how Juve fans with Deki and Bentancur weren't bothered letting them go and they've been great. It's likely he'll be pretty good with how well the club have scouted recently, but there hasn't been that same universal praise that likely means he's class. But again he looks pretty good, at a good price in a position of need and hopefully done early so can't complain there

Nobody said VDV was amazing before we signed him. We all said he showed a lot of potential but he couldnt be our main signing, he had to be alongside Tapsoba. Then we just signed him and he was unexpectedly amazing right away.

I think Dragusin will be a fantastic buy and not a deal drop in quality. I may be wrong but I think he will surprise a lot of people if we get him.

Definitely did mate, I quoted one in the summer about a month and a half before we signed him which had me convinced

Maybe I can give some insight as a Wolfsburg supporter: He is one of the quickest players in the Bundesliga and was by far the fastest center back this season. His upper body looks like he is the captain of a rowing team.

His defensive skills are also really impressive, especially considering his age. IMO he is the kind of center back designed to deal with a next-gen striker like Haaland, since he can match his pace and physique. His biggest strength are tackles against players breaking through defensive lines. Where you usually hold your breath because you know the center back is slower and might need to risk a red card to stop the attack, Van de Ven paces past them and muscles the player or tackles the ball away in a safe manner.

Of course he hasn’t proven anything on the big stage yet, but after seeing him play in all games this season, I’m convinced he is just one of these players who is a cut above the rest and will have zero issues to establish himself in a top team. A lot of people are sleeping on him because he didn’t get much international exposition yet, but there is a reason Mino Raiola personally made sure to sign this guy playing in the Dutch second division for his agency

I’ve seen all his games this season and whoever is going to get this guy, is going to have a great CB for years to come. I’d go as far as calling him the best CB we ever had (next to Andrea Barzagli) and by far the most talented. This guy has (almost) everything. Incredible pace, incredible physique, a natural authority, great spatial awareness and sharp passes. Only thing he needs to drastically improve to make it to the top is the accuracy of his long balls, but he strikes me as the kind of player who will work his ass off to improve in the area his team wants him to improve in.
Haven't seen praise like that for this guy yet, it's much more mild. It's all on the level of "he's pretty good, nothing special but not bad, has some positives and negatives". 7/10 type signing which isn't bad at all, if Ange wants him and both he and the scouts are convinced he's good enough then fair play we back him. Plus he's very young, only 21 so he might take his game up a level with quality coaching like we have here and by all accounts he works hard and has a good attitude

Can't believe people on here don't haggle, only an idiot pays the full asking price.

When I see this I always think people have lived very sheltered lives.

The only time you splash out is with something one of a kind or in high demand (limited supply), because with an investment like that you're likely to gain more.
I'm just about to nip out for some more booze, if I get barred from my local convenience store because of this advice...

Infact if we weren't desperate I'd bet we could save few bob haggling towards the end of the window.

Starting at 25m instead of 20m shows we want to get the deal done quickly.

Isn’t that what an elite-level football player is?

Not really, well not the way we do it.

Supposedly we have a list and have been in talks with at least two centre backs. As far as I know no other clubs are interested. So we can haggle.

If you do it the United way then yes.

What? Entirely wrong club to use as an example. They overpay for average players.

It’s been 33mins… should we be concerned?

No seriously though, get it done, as soon as it’s legally, officially, morally possible… maybe dont even worry about morally.

Would prefer Radu over Todibo, mostly because in my opinion, defenders in Serie A are generally better quality versus Ligue 1.

They love him in Italy so maybe it’s just you are out of touch. He’s 21 Todibo is 23. How many good CB you heard raved about at 21 / younger?

I think we'll get this one done pretty soon 🤞. Ange puts a lot of value in attitude and by all accounts Dragusin hasn't hesitated about wanting the move, so that's very positive.

If we believe the player is of the elite-level standard required, then it is a false economy to spend a disproportionate amount of time and effort haggling over a ‘few bob’.

If we don’t think he’s worth what is a relatively small sum to pay for a player we aspire to be part of a trophy winning team, should we be signing him at all?
