Well, well. That would be a bit of a blow wouldn't it? Shame, but I also don't feel that "if we'd moved quicker" it would have really made much of a difference.

If Bayern were going to move, they would have come what may.

If we get him, great. If we don't, can we refrain from the unhinged Levy hate please?
This. If Bayern want the player and the player wants Bayern there’s not really anything we can do. It’s not like the player or his agent or the selling club have any incentive to keep things quiet. They are all trying to get the best deal possible.

I guess only thing would be at least we would have known last week vs this week so that much more time to move to alternatives, but at end of day not much difference.

I’m off to burn ant’s with a magnifying glass.

it’s dark. So should take me until morning.

I’m gonna start with Ant McPartlin.
Just as long as you’re not planning on burning Levy’s head as someone threatened last night 😂

As others have said, I think it’s unlikely Bayern submit a bid without getting strong vibes from him otherwise they risk losing out to us and being made to look like chumps.

I mean, it’s Bayern - so I get it. But IF ( and if bring the operative word ) why have we allowed Bayern to come in?

I don't think we can stop other clubs bidding on players. Would be ideal if we could, but then we might be breaking some rules somewhere.

Big clubs can always come in and scupper a deal.

Agents hear things all the time and if he heard (if being the operative word) that Bayern are interested then he'd be smart to get his client to hold off a few days to see if the interest materialises.

It's things like this that can slow down deals, it's very rare that it's just us not putting up the transfer fee.

Ange won’t lose sleep over this one if it doesn’t happen, so I don’t think we should get ourselves all worked up over it, either. He wants full commitment, so if he elects to go to Bayern he’ll just know he wasn’t all-in. Better to know now than later. If he doesn’t choose us, I look forward to hearing who our next option is.

So my understanding is player is keen/open to coming to us.
With that in mind, we've been negotiating a deal with his club and it seems to be one they're happy with.
Now though, another team has come in with an offer that the selling club also likes, so leaves it to the player.

It's annoying but... that's the transfer window. I don't know what you want us to do?

Some have said do the deal faster and like... it's January 9th. How much faster do you want it? And if Bayern have been scouting too and have the ability to match etc... do you think if we'd rushed it or something by the 3rd that Bayern wouldn't have also sped up as well?

A lot of the talk says player likes us and the premier league so I don't think it's all over. As big as Bayern are, there's the allure of the prem + England + London and hell... maybe he just prefers the idea of an attacking Ange side to whatever Tuchel is doing.

Point is... we're still in a good position so hoping that things fall in our favour... but sounds like we're at the very least doing the right things.

It seems strange for Bayern to bid so late unless the player or his agent indicated he would choose them over us. If the interest is genuine, I only see it going one way.

We're the 10th biggest club on the planet.

We have TWO fit Centre Back on our books.

One has just returned from a two month lay off.

The other is Eric Dier who the manager has openly stated he doesn't want.

We've sold and loaned all the others.

Yes. We can blame the club.
Be real.

All the top top teams do this. Wait for another club to agree terms with a player on their shortlist, if the terms and fee sound good to them they'll swoop last minute, works most of the time. It's a power play and a huge advantage of being one of the biggest and most successful teams in the world, let another club do all the ugly work then just match everything, easy peasy.

Also impossible to keep deals secret anymore either especially since the internet was born. Agents want the best club and most money for their client, they'll leak everything left right and centre just to bump up more interest.

Does anyone really think that Bayern at going to submit a bid at this late stage if they've not received encouragement from the agent/player. Be surprised if he doesn't end up there now.
