Bentacur done us a massive favour to come back early from his 2nd injury to practically save us when we were short in midfield.

Hope he can get some rest now with a full squad. Still don't think he's fully recovered from that injury.

You could still see bits and pieces of the old Bentancur today. He’s definitely rusty and I think he just needs more time that Bissouma being back will allow. I also think he will be a fantastic bench option that’ll be useful in any scenario.

Yup. Now the squad is properly returning him we can integrate him in a more typical way. Great stuff

I actually thought it was a shame he came off, I felt like he was just getting into his groove. Who am I to question Ange but I thought the changes affected our flow and we were quite poor………until 2 of the subs then combined for the winner 🤣

So harsh to blame him for the penalty.

Vdv clearly at fault not for only giving the pen away but playing that ball into Bents when he had no space and 3/4 Brighton players converging on him

Not harsh at all. VdV could have put the ball into the stands, but that's not how we play. Given how we do play, his pass to Bents was near perfect, great weight to his right foot on the turn. There was a pass wide open into right midfield for Bents to play first time, which is what he should do under our style. Instead he tried to take some touches, and move with the ball.

Even at their very best for us, both Bents and Biss have shown a tendency towards the casual on the ball, dwelling when they should be passing, and getting caught.

Just rewatched the whole game. Definitely saw glimpses of his form before injury.
people saying his was way of it need to watch more carefully.

Maybe in the second half before he was subbed, but in the first half he was poor. He gave away the ball several times because he didn't protect it well enough when he was under pressure.

Totally agree. IMO yesterday's performance was arguably his worst in a Spurs shirt. He's not routinely dispossessed, yet he was yesterday, including the sequence of play that led to the penalty.

A fully up-to-speed Bentancur is still, IMO, the best player we have.

I thought he was really good after his first injury, but to get injured again so soon I feel he’s struggling now. Hope he can get back to his best

I think some of it is actually getting used to a different coach, system, intensity etc.

Ange's style of football & ConteBall is like chalk and cheese.

Yeah it's easy to forget he didn't get a pre season to adapt

Was he that bad the second half yesterday? He was arguably at fault for the penalty and lost the ball in the first half but I think people are overreacting a bit, he grew into the game. More work to be done but on the right track.

Pretty interesting, in this interview James Ward-Prowse said he thinks Bentancur is the most underrated midfielder in the league:

Very good player, but right here, right now the weak link. Needs to be benched, both Sarr and Lo Celso offer more now. Once he is in top of his game it might be different. But not XI material for next game.

Not sure about Lo Celso but Sarr for sure is my preference as the #8 on the right side.

With the talk of us wanting a starting #6 and Bergvall joining in the summer, does anyone else think we might see one of Bentancur or Bissouma sold?
