Utd had a rocky start under Solskjaer but they went unbeaten in their last 14 premier league matches, winning 9 of them and drawing 5. Utd are on the up and not only that they’re dominating the opposition. Whereas we had a good finish to the season but only sparingly produced a dominating performance.

Squad wise Utd’s is settled, functioning and they’re looking to bring in quality players. Whereas ours is still lacking quality and depth in key areas and we don’t have a settled first XI.

Utd now have a squad good enough to push for a top 3, potentially top 2 finish.

With the players available to Liverpool, Man City, Utd and Chelsea you would expect them to comfortably beat most teams with the title being decided on how the fare against each other.

Whereas with us we’re having to battle for every single point. 2-3 seasons ago we were also part of the elite and rolling many sides over but not anymore.
I watched a good chunk of United's matches after the restart and I'd hardly call them dominant. They had to battle for a lot of those points and there were a few times where the pendulum was swinging against them and then... penalty given. Hell, our match against them was a prime example.

I'm not saying they're not a better team on paper than us right now, but they're also not challenging with Liverpool and City and Chelsea for the best squads in the Premier League.

Surely they're not going to get that many game changing and highly questionable penalties again this season, surely?! Always an optimist...

Keep coming in here to see views on Sergio Reguilón but never seems to be about him????

You've been here eight years, you should know better by now... ?

Seriously though, I think the conversation has switched because United's link to him seems stronger than ours at the moment.

Although, admittedly, they get linked to EVERYONE.

Welcome to SC
Bit like the ITK discussion thread then....to keep it relevant, based on the views of those who have commented and seen him in action.... this is just the kind of signing I’d love and it can significantly change the way we play in the last 3rd with Doherty on the right. I’d far rather this than some of the strikers we’ve been linked with.

I got 1 minute in, saw he managed to somehow tackle Traore and was convinced we need him.
We'll probably sign Nat Clyne instead and square peg him in at left back. We got dis.

Saw one report about going back to Sevilla on loan with option to buy. If he’s going on a loan with option it is insanely dumb not to be all over it.

I 100% agree, but I'd guess that Real will probably have a incredibly favorable buyback clause implemented like loan with 10 mil option to buy but they can buy him back for 15-20 and we all know Levy would never agree to something like that, maybe a small sell on clause but never a buyback. If there isn't a buyback I'd think we would be trying to get this deal over the line

What's wrong with a buyback clause that gets active after say, 2 years ? We are hardly trying to build a "10 year project" at the moment.

but the problem with that is then you need a LB and everyone knows you need a LB and will bend you over a barrel on the next one you try to purchase. I want reguilon very bad but unless they drop that buyback clause I just don't think it will happen

Besides signing Van De Beek and Bruno (who was good but the penalties definitely overinflate his impact) what "massive strides" has United taken in the last 12 months?
Seriously! They are slowly rebuilding their team. Have got CL next year and are spending or offering to spend almost 100m on one player. They’ve spent 39 on vdb and want sancho. Summer 19 Daniel James, awb and maguire. Plus shifting 15 dead woods out. You are ignoring a lot of work they’ve put in.

I’d be willing to take a buy back on the chin. We’re in times where we need to cut our cloth accordingly

Another possibility would be for them to have first option on any offer we accept... Maybe throw bit of discount say 25% reduction on the offer accepted.

I'd 100% love this idea if we had to have a clause in there and I think (could be wrong) that's what they did with Hakimi

Not sure why United would want another left back, they have both Shaw and Williams. Unless one is leaving.
