Since Southampton he's shown a completely different side of his ability.

For the first 15 games or so, he was back to goal, one touch release the ball. Now he's playing with a bit more freedom, which allows him to get into space when he drops a bit deeper, so he can pick the ball up and turn to face goal. As everyone has said, he has a great footballing brain, and can pick a pass way better than I ever saw him do for Valencia.

Considerably more to his game than goal poaching. And it's refreshing to see so many spurs fans show patience with him not having put a couple of chances away, because they know he's eventually going to come good.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he's looked happier with players nearer to him so that he's also not isolated.

That and the fact he probably no longer has all his runs from minute 1-90 mapped out for him before the game thanks to preparation of immense dimensions.

This was brilliant

Yeah, he looks a lot happier now whereas he looked like he was going through a bout of depression under AVB. Love how he always celebrates everyone's goals as if he's scored them himself too, great team spirit amongst the lads it would seem!

I like that too, he celebrated Ade's goal yesterday more than Ade did.

If he had guided the Lennon cross into the net people would have been raving about a perfect performance from him and giving him the MOTM award

His pass to set up Lennon was sublime and his involvement in Ade's goal was great team play

At the moment his finishing has gone with his confidence, but his confidence is clearly rising and with that and the improved chances he receives the goals will come.

He's already showing great movement, positional sense and link/team play. Once he starts doing what he does best and banging in the goals we will have a top striker on our hands

Sublime doesnt even do that ball to Lennon justice. It was a perfect pass. Unreal!!!

Now can people slagging off soldado just please sit down and stfu. It's embarrassing.

He started the moves for both goals with great through-balls and put lennon through for a sitter with a wordly through-ball and could have had a goal himself.

Whoever's got the heat map fetish on here should get ones for him as he's been fucking excellent since tim took over.

He just needs a couple of the many chances he's getting into positions for to go in and he's on his way to bringing his fierce goal scoring prowess from open play here.

Amazing pen taker, fantastic positional sense and awareness, team player, great brain, and trust that this guy is a hot-shot. He will start to smash them in from open play.

The work he's doing now he has never done for us before and for that I must tip my hat to tim.

It freaks me out, the type of player that gets defended on here and the ones that don't.

It's like some weird anti-football adoration.

Soldado shits hot steamy ones on defoe.

Live with it.

What is up with those URL's. haha

I'm glad you made this thread because I was just about to

I have a friend who supports Spurs who has been calling all season for Defoe to be starting and Soldado to be sold. Ok, so Soldado has missed a few chances but I just think sometimes it takes a while to settle and get your confidence in front of goal, especially the 'easier' chances. But his overall contribution, especially of late, has been superb. He is very good at spotting the pass and completing it. He's also an incredibly clever footballer (for a striker who is known for poaching). Some of his runs, especially inside the box, to take away the defender and creat space has been brilliaint (there's a specific example that I can't quite remember)

Him and Ade up front is a formidable duo. Once he starts scoring a few he will be an absolute force for us. Defoe should be nowhere near the first team when these two are fit.

Which I think proves the point I was trying to make: my friend is an idiot.

Hopefully we are seeing a turning point for him with different tactics. He didn't cope well being up top on his own and having balls lumped up to him with his back to goal. With Ade beside him now he has enough support and freedom to play his game. I fully expect him to wreak havoc at some point and start scoring for fun.

Imagine if Soldado starts banging them in now. Judging by yesterday it won't be long before he does.

Ade and him could be our best partnership since Keane & Berba.

He needs to stop missing sitters but, as others have said, I believe that once he gets one or 2 in then he'll go on a run.

He is SUCH an intelligent and unselfish striker. A breath of fresh air compared to Defoe.

But he does need to start scoring these chances were putting on a plate for him

I'm really amazed that he hasn't scored more to be honest. The chances are being created for him now, and after such a barren streak under AVB it's not entirely surprising that he doesn't immediately have his best shooting form click into gear. Give it a few games and he could be finishing the season looking like an absolutely vital player for us.

hmm i didn't see sold ado chance as a sitter, a difficult chance it was a fast moving cross which was bouncing, and he was travelling at pace.
also for me harry kane looks lost and completely out of his depth, a move to QPR would benefit kane imo, he is not the quickest and not the strongest, those qualities need to be developed if he can reach those standards then maybe he can be an option. at the moment we need a striker who has strength and quickness or speed or power.

He's deffo got a bit of the VDV's about him. Obviously slightly different in playing styles but in terms of his character and his passion for the Club.

I am sorry, and I do agree he has great attributes, but he's main job is to score goals and he isn't doing that! Yes he scores penalties, and in fairness does this very well so he is contributing to the goal count. However there is only a certain amount of time a striker can get. We are now in the second half of the season and he has one or is it two goals from open play in the EPL, and that is not good enough. Add to this he has had chances but not taken them, and we were all saying under the AVB system, he is a top goal scorer and if he gets the chances he will score. Well he isn't I am afraid:-(
He will of course get more time in this new system, and he is contributing in other areas as you say, but bottom line is he needs to actually score goals from open play. I really hope he does as I like him. But he must return on our investment.
