Arguably looked very out of place in the Conte system earlier this year (Jan/Feb time?) so wouldn't have been inconceivable that they thought he'd be surplus to Conte's plan.
If we'd finished fifth and Conte was off then perhaps. Now the way things look, I cannot see it happening. We neither need to nor want to sell, they won't pay what he's worth and Son would most likely not want to leave as things stand. Would be really awkward anyway, what with him touring South Korea this summer with the club lol.
Klopp will be gutted, he loves giving Son a cuddle after every match.

I dont add much credence to the awards etc but for Sonny that is a fucking ridiculous outcome. I dont know when the votes take place or how theyre taken place etc but I find it ludicrous. Sonny has been great all season and consistent - yeah a few odd poor games but not half a season like Salah.

Apparently half the players don't take it seriously and the whole thing's a bit of a farce behind the scenes.
The fact Ronaldo and Kane are on there tells you it's largely done on overall reputation rather than the season as a whole. Kane had a shocking first half of the season and Ronaldo, while he had his moments, was nowhere near Son's level this season. Same goes for Mane to a lesser degree (think his overall play was better than Ronaldo's).

I was shocked when Modric actually won it. And not when Lewandowski didn’t - but they did create a special new category (Best Player Not Called Messi or Ronaldo iirc) for him to win.
