I've always thought that the people who backed individual players over managers were deluded, however, this situation is really making me wonder. He's head and shoulders above any player in our squad, and he's put in a shift for 45 minutes in a team where everyone else looked disinterested. So if the talent is there and the desire seems to be there, why is he not playing?

He has natural talent. It's a little unbridled but you don't lose a good horses spirit to put him in to a box.
Smart managers who might understand our lack of ball players would think I'll work around NDombele. He is a natural talent that if he was everything Mourinho would want him to be.. He would cost more that Levy could afford. So do you got back to having mediocre players who will listen or do you take 2 of them soldiers and put him behind NDombele and let him create????

I think Ndombele was brought on because GLC had picked up a knock, otherwise I doubt we'd have seen him til the 70th minute, if at all.
That's my nightmare tomorrow; GLC injured, but winks and Sissoko starting with Moura Son and Bergwijn in 10

That totally depends on the opponent. Our possession would be a lot better with those 3 in midfield imo. Although none of that really matters since we don't have a physical defensive midfielder to choose anyway. Sissoko doesn't have the positional awareness or control on the ball to play there. Dier simply doesn't have the legs to play that role anymore. Skipp and Gedson are number 8s and no more physical than Winks. So until we dip into the transfer window I think it's the best option we have for the remaining games. Although I would have liked to try Foyth there as we did with Dier (and a role Alderweireld played early in his career). It just seems like a good position for him at his age before he gains the discipline for centre back. But he's injured anyway and Jose simply doesn't trust him.

At least he came on instead of Gedson this time so there's still some hope.

Skipp is a number 6 primarily who can also play as an 8. He is a lot better at tackling than Winks and has far better defensive awareness too, including defensive positioning.

But he is at his best playing as a DM.

Exactly this. He came on and was decent but not fantastic but he’s only played 20 mins of football in 4 months so he would be rusty ( as would say sess for example ).

The thing is he tried things and I’m okay with things not working out as long as you try. Nothing worse than playing safe all the time.

some fans wouldn’t be happy unless he came on scored, assisted and ran a marathon in between.

We are not in a position to let him have a kick about as we need results. Some fans would be happy if he showed some hunger and desire too!

To speculate, I liken it to Gazza. Fergie claimed he would have changed him to a more disciplined person. Could have changed his career and life, who knows. There have been numerous other rare talents in the game, many of them failing or having premature ends to their careers due to their lack of said 'discipline' or mental application.

It could well be a method in 'helping' his long term career. Both our managers this season have had concerns over his application, so it's hardly random.

Wtf dude? Gazza was proven quality in our league . He isn't. I am having difficulty on understanding why folk have such a huge hard on for him!

Sadly Jose will not play him. Maybe Poch would have phased him in this season.

about time to give him four games on the trot. let’s see what he can do with a run of games to shake off the rustiness and learn. he won’t learn shit sitting on the bench week in, week out. maybe what he needs is for this coach to show him some affection and trust. if he blows it over the next four games, fair enough. we have nought to play for. the least Jose should be doing is trying to find the ‘get up and go’ in Tanguy.

Agree with run of games needed though not this season as cant afford an abject performance.

Mourinho has been perfectly okay with abject performances from quite a few up to this point. And we know damn well it will be more of the same tomorrow. I’d rather take a chance with an incredibly talented player than live with more of the same shit from Sissoko/Winks.

That's the thing, I'd understand him not playing if Sissoko and Winks were performing far above their level and in the form of their lives, but... they're not. Baffling.
