60 million? I would think there would be no???s
The reality of the market is that £60m is not going to buy you a flawless player these days. Look at Mbappe, O. Dembele, Joao Felix, and the prices quoted for Sancho and Havertz. The truly elite prospects cost in excess of £100m in the post-Neymar world.

Ndombele has the raw ability to break into that bracket if he can ever resolve his fitness and work rate issues. But there’s a reason he came to us for £60m rather than Real Madrid, United or one of the financially doped clubs for £100m. I’m sure we were aware of his problems when we bought him and Poch backed himself to coax the best out of the player over time.

Adults don’t have difficult times at “work”...? Ok.

Playing for Spurs is not work, its more than that or should be.
Its a realisation of a dream, it should be an honour, carrying the hopes of thousands as one goes to battle week in week out.

For you and me as a fan, perhaps.

For a professional footballer who trains regularly, has played for other clubs and until recently had no connection with Tottenham? Hmmm. Not so sure.

That's ok then because he doesn't care about the club its ok that he's not willing to put any effort in while being paid 200k a week to live most peoples dream. It makes perfect sense to not try and make an impact in the most watched league in the world where he had the chance to become a star. I'm glad you've cleared that up I'm more than happy for him to put in the bare minimum effort now bring on another season of it.

recognise he could be a brilliant bargaining chip or source of funds when times are tight. But actually hope he stays and becomes the colossus we want him to be.

Feel a lot of people have changed sides and are wanting to get rid before giving the guy a chance. The fitness aspect could be him adjusting to the league and having injuries.

As far as im concerned, in the data-centric world in which we live, any discussion about player application/work-rate/laziness etc is entirely moot as the Club has all the stats re distance covered, breaths taken, calories ingested etc so the Club will know WAY before we do if someone isnt putting the work in (on and off the field).

Quite so . Drifting slightly off topic , Poch will have seen the end of his pressing game's effectiveness long before we did , but was unable to head off our decline.

I would love him to turn it around because of his potential and brief glimpses of what he has shown us. However, I can't see how the situation gets any better next season, especially as it seems Ndombele's (or at least his camp's) mind is made up.

He could hold the key to doing some shrewd business this window and I don't doubt he'll go on to be a success wherever he goes, but just think he's maybe not suited to the 'rebuild' phase we're in now when we could maybe bring in Skriniar and possibly Sabitzer.

Yes the player has to want to be here and work. People criticise Jose management a lot nowadays but he has turned around players at club throughout his career as often as he has ostracised but that isn't spoken about.
If The player has the will and Jose has the patience I think this will work. If not and with one of his best mates at the club, Serge leaving, he wants to go we need to squeeze the absolute life out of the deal because creative dynamic midfielders don't come cheap.

Unfortunately, I think this is wishful thinking.

He had 3 months to get on a treadmill or do circuit training to build his cardio and stamina, but still couldn't get much game time when the PL returned.

And he wasn't injured because he was on the bench for most of those games.

Mourinho will pick him if he's good enough. He's not going to leave out a talented player, who puts the effort in, because of a personal vendetta.

In my opinion, it all points to some serious problems with TN applying himself after getting a big money move.

I just hope he can turn it around, because he can be a world class player if he wants it enough.

I think the reason people have switched sides is they realise there is an issue between the player and manager and given the lack of chances post lockdown Mourinho will continue to ignore him. I'd love him to get a chance. It would be really encouraging if the player could make a public statement that he acknowledges last season was a struggle and he really wants to make an impact this season.i can't see it happening though?

Yeh it’s definitely this. It’s so clear that Mourinho likes certain players that he can rely on and are great at the intangibles. Ndombele has a ton of ability but none of the intangibles and even at this stage of his career lacks so many basic facets (positioning, awareness, defensive responsibilities) that you know Mourinho will want from any player in the middle. He’s probably got by on his pure ability up until now but in the premier league and particularly for Mourinho it isn’t going to fly. I think that is more of an issue personally than the fitness. If Mourinho doesn’t have trust in him, how is he ever going to break into the team and be a success?
