I finally watched the documentary portion with him in. There was some interesting takeaways. That Jose didn't rate Lo Celso initially because he was shy was a little concerning. I'm glad that Lo Celso had the personality to prove it on the pitch but he only got his opportunity because of injuries. I think that context is important when discussing Ndombele because it seemed to me that it was all agreed that he is indeed working hard in training as alluded to in the conversation with Levy.

What I think he clearly lacking is the confidence and it seems his confidence lies within the need to be starting games. I know a lot of posters have already given up on him but for me, we need to ride out a period of consistent starts where he will possibly struggle but getting that confidence boost of starts I think his personality will grow more confident and we will start to see the best of him. It'll be a rocky period especially on here where people will not accept the notion of playing somebody into form but if we want to make the most of the investment. He needs to start games. With Lo Celso we were lucky we had injuries, Ndombele it seems is lucky we have a ridiculous schedule coming up.

I was thinking that myself. In a way this fixture pile up could be a blessing in disguise for him and us. (if Jose decides to play him that is). Gets some game time every week and hopefully grows into his role.

He needs to start on Thursday and hopefully put in a proper performance. As I always say if you can do it vs PFC Lokomotic Plovdiv 1926 you can do vs anyone.
fuck no, he's coming out injured if he plays that game.

Why exactly? Where else do you expect him to get starts, because Jose aint dropping him in a league game out of nowhere. Infact our next league opposition is southampton and it was dnepro who injured him in the first place.

Yeah, Jose doesn't seem the type to handle with care, he expects you to take care of yourself but sometimes a personality needs a bit of love just to get past that fragility. People can talk transfer cost and wages all day but that money does not matter when your self esteem is low. I think we can build that back pretty easily with some starts.

If we can take strides in gradually increasing his minutes from the bench surely with all these games we can get him game ready , and accustomed to the PL pace . It’s in his locker to prove the doubters wrong ( including me) Come on Tanguy !!!!

the way they were talking about this game, the underdog mentality, the physicality (borderline aggresion at times) these kind of sides usually present against a player that makes lots of turns and holds the ball for a second too many seems like a recipe for disaster. not even factoring the field conditions since I'm not informed on but might play a role in it.

I want him to play but have this feeling it won't end well.

I remember a lot of NUFC fans complaining that Sissoko was lazy when he signed for us. I take some heart from that in the Ndombele situation. What he needs is motivation like Poch gave to Sissoko, although I'm rather concerned Mourinho won't do that. Fingers crossed.

Jose will not give a chance to 50-60 million player? Really, Jose wants to win he will do anything to win so ask yourself why is Jose not playing him when he cares so much about winning ?

I still really do think a midfield of him, Gio and PEH could do serious things if Jose lets Tanguy play more

I think just one of them could make a huge difference. Look at Everton with James, his passing and touch was a different class to everyone. And he alone was creating numerous attacking opportunities. Look at the difference Bruno has made to Utd.
Both be great but just having a fully fit Lo Celso in the side would completely transform our play in my opinion.

We will probably need to play a three-man CM to accommodate him, as he will probably never be that box-to-box CM required for playing in a CM2 (even if he does improve his fitness levels). I personally think we should, as he would provide far more creativity than what Dele does. Ndom is one of very few players capable of beating oppo’s press (similarly to Dembele).

What I'd like to see is, a 3 man midfield, with Gio on the left. Allowing Bale a floating role, able to come in central with Doherty on the overlap and Gio working with the space created. Eriksen used to be fantastic in that little pocket of space.

Seemed very shy on the docco to me, doesn’t seem like a naturally hard worker, quite languid and laid back ‘lazy’ style of person. Clearly talented but when he says he’s a fighter I can’t really see it myself. I know its hard to adapt to a new team, league, country, he mentioned that he left his family behind so all very tough but I'd question the background checks we did on his character and suitability to moving to the PL etc and being at a top top club as from all the interviews etc it seems like he is really struggling to adapt and as i've said above his character doesn't seem one that is particularly driven which is hard to change.

Really hope he proves us wrong as we bloody need him to be our creative force in CM ASAP.

To me Jose's comments imply that he indeed was one of the players with Covid ('other health problems')

He was let go as a youth player and had to fight his way back to the top to make it at Amiens and Lyon.

That to me shows he is a fighter. You simply don't make it back to the top level after you're let go unless you have fight in you.

Mourinho saying today that Ndombele still isn't fit to start games is a big concern. How is he still not fit?

Because as Mourinho he only started training 2 days before the Watford pre season match, which means he's only really had 2 weeks of full training.

He had a knee injury and covid, it's perfectly acceptable that he's still building his fitness currently. Mourinho seems much happier with him.

Reading between the lines I think he has had COVID-19.

At least the manager is talking about him in a positive way this season. Sounds like he is knuckling down.
