He’s so so good. The talent was clear to see from the beginning under Poch. Never quite got the extent of the doubt.

A real Beast! We need it fresh vs Chelsea. Surprised because I thought that No. 8 was not her best position.

The opposition were shite but tonight he showed why he's so much better in that deeper position. He was tenacious, constantly involved and has that ability to beat the press and make a quick pass between the lines which none of our other midfielders can do (barring maybe Lo Celso, although his passing from deep is more pedestrian).

Him and Hojbjerg as a double pivot with Lo Celso further forward should be dynamite. I really hope Jose uses that midfield when the fixture demands it (i.e. Palace away).

Agreed mate but I think we'll be waiting a touch longer before we see that...Fulham at home maybe...

Happy he played deeper, I think he’s better there as on the ball he’s brilliant and he sees the ball more in a deeper position. That’s certainly where he was playing when he built his reputation and commanded a huge transfer fee. I think Jose feels that role might still be too demanding for him in the prem where the intensity is 5x as high, but I certainly don’t know if that’s true. Jose said he and Gio will be able to play together eventually, and in the 4231 we play, I think gio is more suited to the no 10 role and tanguy better deeper, so glad he got the start in that position and showed he was a level or two above in the midfield.

I think Jose was using Europa today to get Ndombele prepared to take the deeper role in the league. Easing him into it tactically. I think we're not far off seeing him there with GLC infront. No surprise to me that dele was back in the fold today as a space further forward might open up soon if GLC doesn't stay fit.

He wasn't exactly deeper today because we were pressed much further forward so he still occupied similar areas of the pitch a lot of the time. His run for the 2nd goal was fantastic, hopefully we see more shots from him. His final ball is top class so needs to play close to the forwards for me. Lo Celso has more industry and is naturally better off the ball so would be best suited alongside Hojbjerg. I just can't wait to get them both together along with Bale.

body language expert incoming, but does anyone else feel like there's a bit of animosity between him and Jose? whenever he comes off he always looks pissy and doesn't acknowledge Mourinho like all the other players

The run for the second goal was amazing and he showed some fantastic touches. But, and I know plenty on her disagree....

He lost the ball a few times with sloppy passes and got a silly yellow card. If he fouls on Sunday you just know a team like Chelsea will be hounding a red card from then on. And once again he was breathing out of his arse after an hour.

His skill is undeniable, I’m still not sure he’s an automatic starter in a team challenging for the league.

And yes I understand that’s an unpopular view on here but I’m simply basing it on what I see. If you want entertainment he’s your man, I’m not sure Jose trusts him to play in a deeper role against the stronger teams. Let’s see.

When he and Lo Celso play together eventually they will interchange. You wont see one or the other in either role all the time. They both offer different skills in each position and will be a nightmare to play against and give us huge tactical flexibility without having to make substitutions etc.

I think we got a glimpse of him in his best position last night. Fitness and work rate is definitely getting there. When he is able to play 8 consistently for us he will be unreal, suits his attributes so much. That midfield with him and Lo Celso is the dream for sure but it was also nice for Dele to put in a good display too.

You didn't answer my question, which two of our centre backs are good enough for a top 4 team ? and not a left sided CB amongst the four you mentioned.
We currently have the best defensive record in the league. Still think we can’t defend well with our current centre backs?
