I can't wait until (hopefully) in a month when he's fully fit & he and Lo Celso are playing together.

Looks far more engaged and I hope he continues because his actual footballing ability (on the ball and vision) is there for all to see.

More please!

Good on Mourinho and the club for managing the minutes and fitness of GLC and Ndombele early in the season so far.

Considering their fitness and proclivity for niggly injuries, it is paramount to protect them until they are ready to go full speed. Two of our most crucial players this season.

More time on the treadmill and match time first though. Needs to build his match fitness because the quality is there. But nothing has changed in that regard since he’s been here, it’s very frustrating. At the moment we are a better team with GLC in it than him. Today is proof of that when at times in the first half it looked like we were playing with 10 men.

Start him in the next game and play him until he’s dragging himself off the pitch. It’s the only way to get him up to the required standard. More pitch time. Fortunately we have the EL and league cup games to do that in.

Oh I know the struggles still exist, fingers crossed, eh?

Lo Celso is pretty amazing though, plus he’s more combative! ??
I think Lo Celso's like a more combative version of Eriksen - a "tick-tock" sort of player, whereas Ndombele's more of a traditional flair player.

Good management this

Mourinho on his Ndombele substitution
No, he was not injured, but we all know that his condition is not yet top condition and that is why we are playing him basically coming from the bench.
Gio Lo Celso was very, very tired and he clearly wouldn't be able to play 90 minutes. We decided to play Tanguy but we had planned that Gio would come into the game in the second half.
The yellow card left Tanguy in a difficult position in the same way Romeu was in a difficult position and could possibly get a second yellow card during the second half. I didn't want that to happen to Tanguy in a game against Southampton, which is always fair and honest but an aggressive game in lots of ways. I was just afraid and Gio is in this moment still has a little bit more sharpness than Tanguy and second half was fantastic for us.

There's a reason why him and Lo Celso cost us £100 million. If we can get them both in the team without leaving ourselves exposed defensively then we suddenly have one of the best midfields in the league filled with technical ability and creativity.

Opposition fans still have no idea how good these 2 can actually be. Getting the best out of them is our secret weapon this season.

Just here to say Ndombele is our most talented creative player. That is all.
Lo Celso isn;t bad though ;)

At the start of the month I was worried that Lo Celso would be the only decent creative player, with no one to rotate in for him. Ndomblele is now showing that we can alternate the two of them when fixtures are congested.

I really want to see us lineup with a CM three of Lo Celso, PEH & Ndombele against weaker teams who sit back against us.

One positive point today (among many) was that Jose moved Hojbjerg 2nd half and he performed much better, you'd barely know he was on the pitch which was a good thing in terms of doing his defensive job well whilst allowing the attacking players to be the ones on the ball. Really important step if we wish to see Ndombele and Lo Celso.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong but I’m not convinced him and Lo Celso will work together in terms of what Jose wants.
If 4-3-3 is the way forward I think he’ll want one link man between midfield and the forward 3 and then two CMs who press, work hard and try to win the ball back for us. Lo Celso works harder off the ball of the two but I’m not sure he’d suit that role either.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we sign another defensive midfielder before now and deadline day rather than a CAM and rotate Lo Celso and Ndombele in that slot.

I think it's possible that we play Lo Celso to the 'Winks' role with him and Ndombele dovetailing in front of Hojbjerg. Lo Celso as the more metronomic passer, dropping deep and showing for the ball, with Ndombele trying to find holes and linking with the front 3 while also doing his share of covering in the middle.

That said, I can also imagine Jose doing exactly what you described, and I think we could seriously use another quality, combative option to rotate with Hojbjerg and Winks if we're going to play 4-3-3 every week (the dream option being Sabitzer). At the moment we're only an injury away from Sissoko being in there again and then we're back to square 1.
