Man U will pay up for him in the end. They won’t want Mourinho downing tools like he usually does.

Will just be bloody annoying selling him to Man Utd even if we pull their pants down on the fee.

Which ITKs said that?

Rebrab hinted in the Lobotka thread that signing another DM gives us the option of Dier to cover CB.

Gards pretty much just said it when talking about Toby going. Think Herc may have hinted too.

Guessing we'd rather wait and push for De Ligt in a future window.

I'd rather get him now so he will become club trained along with foyth
(might need to check my maths, but his mid august birthday means he can start a season as 21 and still adds a year to his years at club under 21)
...the season immediately following his 21st birthday may be counted if his birthday is on or after 1 July (winter championships)
I believe the premier league rules are based on these, cant find them specifically

Can a player be club trained by two teams? Guess so due to the wording of the rule but sounds weird.

It will be annoying because I don't have the greatest confidence that we'll bring someone in who could really have us not minding Toby leaving or where he's leaving to. If we got good money for him and brought in Zaha for instance among one or two others I can't say I'd really care about him going to United.

I don't see anything saying a player cant be, interesting situation though. Would have to move at 18 and I guess if selling club is good enough for CL it's unlikely they will sell their star academy player.

I'd really rather sell Toby for less to ANY team outside the EPL. I think Man Utd have had pretty poor defenders for years and Toby going there will really improve them significantly (imo).

Such a bizarre saga it's turning into. I don't even feel like he's that bothered about leaving anymore and this deal doesn't feel close whatsoever. I assumed he was definitely gone but right now it wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing collapsed.

No idea what knock on effect would be in terms of incomings. Don't know how he could stay what with ITK saying he's burnt bridges and fact he can leave for 25m in a year. Just feels like both sides are asking for something the other won't accept. I can't see Utd giving us martial, I can't see levy selling him below valuation and I don't see either of them blinking first. It could end with them both just staring at each other till window closes.

What I don't understand is Utd want Toby and we would sell him to them for the right price but they wont sell Martial to a rival club. So to me it's simple just swop the two over they are both valued at the same price. Then everybody's happy, well I know I would be.

Look if Toby is away to United, then id say there is a 95% chance Martial is coming to us.
There is no way Levy would allow Toby going if Martial didnt come our way.

I would like to believe that, as I think Martial will be great for us, but if Toby hasn’t gone by the end of the window we have to write down the asset from a valuation of around £60m to £25, a loss of £35m!!! Not to mention the impact of having a disgruntled player / bad influence in the camp. No way Levy would let pride get in the way of a loss like that.

He would, and had done it before on principle. Due to amortisation and the fact that we paid £12m for him, his value on the balance sheet is less than £5m, so even £25m at the worst is a large profit
