These Bosman deals are going to be a growing trend.

Exactly, as TV money evens the playing field, and FFP keeps teams from a sudden financial collapse, the need to sell becomes non-existent. Look at Palace, £60m for AWB, and asking £80m for Zaha. If a team that struggled to finished 12th can ask those premiums, then players that want to move are going to have to take matters into their own hands. Sign shorter deals and play out the contract. Obviously you're risking injury and hoping bigger offers will be there when you're out of contract, but at least you maintain control.

. After the CL final he again commented that he will be here next season.

Don't remember this .After the last home match, Toby said he was pleased that CL footie will be played at Spurs ground next season instead of saying, great we would be playing CL at Spurs ground .

In the previous post you say ' clubs have been in for him' Not heard of this either..source ?

Overall it is baffling to me that he hasn't been picked up for 25mill . He's not on colossal wages...seems weird , poss he has absurd personal terms , but I find that hard to believe . So on Friday his price goes up . If he goes it presumably must be in next 2 days .

I don't know whether a deal has to be agreed in the next 2 days or whether the release clause just needs to be triggered. I'd assume the latter.

EDIT; Having said that, the whole point of the cut off date is to give us time to replace, so maybe it's a deadline for a done deal instead.

Yeh you're probably right...I'm just quoting the bbc quoting the Telegraph who reckoned 40 mill after Friday..

From the outside looking in it seems simple.

He has said that he will be here this season.

He has said he would like to play for Ajax again.

He doesn't want to go to Roma, Utd or anywhere else and has discouraged all suitors from even trying. Therefore no bids.

-----------

He said: "I don't want to make too popular statements, but [a return] is certainly 100% in my head. I have had wonderful times here [in Ajax] with three championships, but also lows. But my family was happy here too."

I agree but also fear losing Toby and Jan on frees in the same window next summer. Can’t begrudge them to be honest, especially Verts who rightly will be classed as a loyal Rolls Royce legend. Going to miss him big time.

I doubt we will let Jan go. He’ll get another years contract with an option of another year. I really doubt we will be dicks about him staying unless he wants to leave.

When does the clause finish, is it exactly 5pm tomorrow? Or is it 12am tonight? Or 12am tomorrow night?

I need to know so I can tick off each second...

I wish we could just sit everybody down together, put the past behind us and get him to sign a new deal. Fuck me, this Toby situation is so frustrating.

i agree to an extent, but he/his people clearly did something to royally fuck poch off, and whilst everything is still amicable, id take poch staying over him any day of the week, didn't JJ allude to the fact if he was to sign a new deal, poch would leave?

I wouldn’t get to excited about the buy-out expiring. The stage is set for a Woodward masterpiece. Utd to offer £80m for him next week...

All in all Toby staying one more season even if it is his last and final season at the club is a bonus as if he were to leave whatever improvements we made in other areas would be negated by being left short in defence. Losing Trippier, TA and Rose is to many players in one summer. If we can keep TA and Rose and add our main targets I think we have a good as chance as any to compete with City and Pool.

I inferred from that he would be staying, vs. the interviews as an example given by Eriksen ( granted he may have responded to an interview question and answered as honestly as he could). Toby has always been guarded in his responses. he mentioned he has a contract at spurs for another year. also widely reported that Roma attempted to sign him.

If he doesn’t sign a new contract he needs to used in rotation.

No point stifling Sanchez and Foyth game time and progression

Yes he is guarded..so it would surprise me if he's said , or even inferred that he was staying ..I didn't see his post CL interview tho .

However he was v positive re being made captain vs Juve , said something about the good feeling of being 'trusted' . So mebbe he's thinking about staying now, hope so .

Is it 100% confirmed that the clause expires 2 weeks before the U.K. deadline? Not just the European window? Or are we just speculating? Didn’t he sign his contract before the PL decided to bring the window forward? I only ask because people seem 100% set that this is the case

I really can’t see that. There’s no way Levy would do that to poch. He went through all the backing the player over the manager with a debater and a back and look where that got him.
