Not really fussed. He might be a decent defender, but we already have Verts, Dier, Fazio and Wimmer and if we don't get a decent DM and defend better as a team we'll still ship goals whether we sign him or not.

I'd rather use the £11m to add to the kitty and buy a quality striker who's more than just a kid with potential.

Also plays right back. Wonder if Walker is on his way out??
Who Toby? Alderweireld will be signed to play CB, he will only cover other positions if injuries or suspensions require it. Been an odd amount of speculation in this thread that we'd want to use him in a variety of different positions.

Interesting reading Saints board - they think Atletico is/was skint, and did not have the money to pay the buyout clause until Spurs came in with their offer.

I wonder if we had to loan them some money prior to the transfer being completed to pay off the buyout, to allow AM to complete the sale.

They are skint but it still doesn't stop them spending. They have a debt of over 500m Euros and Real/Barca hoover up the TV cash so god knows how they are servicing it. Last year they won La Liga and reached the CL final and they're annual revenue was 45m euros less than ours.

daddy to cane me, maybe not worth, hate 4 pain, I'll keep shh that's fine, from what i said tho, you wait & see

Sounds like a passage from A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing:

Get up from that bed. Come on we’re late. Ah Mammy. It’ll do you no harm Madam to show the Lord you care. But I feel sick at mass. None of that please. There’s no fresh air in there. Get you your shoes on we haven’t got time for this.

Grannies rap their hearts. I know that from hot mass when they say Jesus’s name. My feet hurt, knees hurt on the kneeler where someone’s foot left shoe dirt there—sorry will you let me through. All the people up and down saying Christ has died Christ has risen Christ will come again. Mammy I can’t see the altar. Lift me up til my legs go dead.

It’s a dangerous place for smacking mass. Any trying to run up the aisle. Get back here. Climbing through the seats ahead. Sorry. Sit down. Sucking tissues or getting under the pew. That’s a good thump in the back.

Crumbs on the carpets and insects bite my back I don’t care for. Nicer is not what I am after. Fuck me softly fuck me quick is all the same once done to me. And washing in their rusted baths and flushing brown with limescale loos amid the digs of four a.m. before I put my knickers on.

The whole book is written this way.

I'd agree, but the undeserved elitism I've observed from Southampton fans makes me want to hurt them in any way possible. They seem to have an animosity for us. I used to really enjoy their club, now I really want to get one over on them. Let's give them a proper reason to hate us if they are to (add that to Pochy).

It's worth baring in mind that these are Internet Southampton fans. Like the twitter spurs fans they tend to be a tad unhinged.

I like Southampton tbh. Obviously the idiots saying they're bigger than us can jog on but the few I know are alright. I also like the way they go about things. I was one of the idiots who totally wrote them off after they sold all their payers to Liverpool but they proved me and everyone else wrong so I won't be doing that again in a hurry, though I do think the Europa will take its toll just like it did with Everton last season.

Is this guy a leader? I mean I back Poch and all but our team needs real leaders around the pitch to help nuture the younger talent. I guess if we move on Kaboul and Vlad it makes sense but I'm not overly convinced on Toby - good luck to lad though if he joins up! Be interesting to see how Wimmer and Dier Push him.

I used to really like Saints a couple of seasons ago when they first came up. I really don't like them now though. They are smug and show so much hatred towards us it's unreal. They need to be put in their place.
