I don't get it. Why no-one wants him? He would be a starter at United, City, Liverpool. Chelsea has a ban they're out. Bayern just got rid of Hummels. Juventus has old Chiellini, old Bonnucci and old Barcagli. Real and Barca are sorted. Atletico just got rid of Godin. And yet he will make a step down to Roma, with all the respect as I really like that club, but we are probably now a better prospect. They offered him a contract we could probably propose as well, if not better. And he was one of our best players for last 4 years. One of the best defender in the league. How bad the things has gone between him and Levy and Poch. I don't get it...

if he turned a contract of £135k when we offered him a new contract, and rumours last summer where clubs won't pay his wage demands, you might find the answer.

if he doesn't go by the clause end, he will be here next season, unless a team has an injury during their pre season after that time

Yeah we played 3 CB'S, a defensive midfielder and a deep lying midfielder who was a physical demon who couldn't be tackled but was allergic to going forward, I'd fucking hope we had the best defence in europe:LOL:

yet it was our highest scoring season too

I know, incredible, I think it's because although we press, we had very specific attacking presses but we had such solidity it afforded the likes of Kane and Dele the freedom to focus on the attacking outlet, similar to Liv now who's front 3 press but at a certain point their industrious midfield allows them the freedom to focus on the next attacking play.

if we want to play Son on a regular basis we can't play 5 at the back, even though we did last season, most of the season we never had a full strength XI. Also without Toby I wouldn't play Sanchez in a back 5 unless he was left or right. he had his worst performances in a back 5 and him being the centre of the 3

I wouldn't say it's a given that Dele start ahead of Son.
And Sanchez probably played his best in the middle of a back 3 in the start of his Spurs career, for me the weak games came when the formation didn't work due to mostly wing backs not being good and fast enough and the holding midfielder being Dier. With faster wing backs and a working midfield I'd be more up for the 3 back line.

Son - Kane
Eriksen
R.Sessegnon - Winks - Ndombele - Atal
Vertonghen - Sanchez - Toby/Foyth
Lloris

We also had 5 defenders who could start a counter attack the second they touched the ball.

I believe that's net, as the clubs pay the taxes. Also some benefits of less tax in first couple of years that Italian clubs benefit from. Still it's not better than what he's been offered here, and won't make up for the money he has "lost" out on so far

The rumours that Roma will pay him 3.5m plus bonuses is half of what he was offered last summer, just saying
I almost rated that funny because it's looking like he's done a fine job of fucking himself over!

This may mean we see some movement shortly. I suspect this will lead to Roma going in for Toby, and then us making that move for Saliba.

We've already made the move for saliba. We put in a bid.
No, that's what I mean. Like, the Manolas move got over the line I'm assuming during the week, which then led to Roma moving the Toby deal along, as reported during the week, and then as a result of that we put the bid in for Saliba on Friday, or whenever it was. What I mean is that I suspect it was the Manolas deal getting finalised which was the first domino to fall.

EDIT: Oh, I see my error. I meant to say 'led to' not 'will lead to' in my OP.

No problem. Understand what you mean. Hopefully next week we see some movement.

Should be a bit of a warning to players that sometimes the grass isn't always greener and agents are (mostly) complete cockwombles.

Badly advised on this and hasn't worked out the way he thought it would. Crazy.

Wasn’t it rumoured it was his family rather than his agent that chased the cash?

Loosing Toby would be awful. We should give him whatever he wants. Top 3 defenders in the league.
